It Is Time To Kick Prepping Into Overdrive, Because This Stock Market Crash Is Just The Beginning
News with Views, End of the American Dream ^ | 24 Aug 15 | Chuck Baldwin, Michael Snyder

If you have not been preparing for what is coming, you need to get off your sofa and you need to start prepping right now. Just remember what happened back in 2008. That crisis took most people totally by surprise. Millions of Americans lost their jobs, and because most of them were living paycheck to paycheck, all of a sudden most of them couldn’t pay the rent or the mortgage either. Large numbers of families that were once living a comfortable middle class lifestyle suddenly found themselves destitute. Well, this coming crisis is going to be even worse by the time it is all said and done, and it is not just going to be economic in nature. Over the past two trading days, the Dow has gone down more than a thousand points. The shaking that so many have warned about has begun. As this shaking plays out, you and your family will need cash, food, supplies and a whole bunch of other things. If you do not already have everything prepared, then you need to kick your prepping into overdrive because we are on a very compressed time frame now.

But don’t just take my word for it. A top adviser to former British Prime Minister Gordon Brown named Damian McBride is saying the same thing…

A former adviser to Gordon Brown has urged people to stock up on canned goods and bottled water as stock markets around the world slide.

And he didn’t just speak in generalities. According to an article in one of the most important newspapers in the UK, McBride is urging his fellow citizens to do some very specific things…

Right now I’ve been fighting indoor (small) ants.

I hate ants. The drought has brought them out looking for moisture. For months I was trying to get rid of ants getting into my house through the crawl-space. I sprayed, they kept coming. I put out Terro liquid ant bait traps. They'd eat it up, filling the traps with dead ants but a trail of live ants continued past the traps. Frustrating! Then I tried Amdro liquid ant killer. You drip the liquid on different spots of the trail inside. Within days the ants disappeared. Terro is crap. The Amdro worked for me, along with spraying trails outside the house with a pump sprayer.

As the LDS say “When the emergency is upon us the time for preparedness has past.”

They also say Jesus lived in Missouri.

Yep - that’s what we do. Every time there’s a decent sale, we stock up until we have enough for at least a year or whatever the use by date is.

If that date is 2 years down the road, then we keep buying until we have stocked 2 years, if we have the money on hand.

Helps with those temporary price increases due to unexpected shortages too.

This is not just for preps, but to be as cost effective as possible. We also can meats that are on sale. These are great to use for quick dinners or to eat right out of the jar.

I prepped for Y2K. We avoided that one because companies, local govts., etc. were well-informed and all were compliant by the time 2000 came. As a result, we had lots of supplies - things that I knew I would use whether something happened or not. It was wonderful having the things we needed already in the pantry. For a long time, we didn’t have to spend very much at the grocery store. Since then, while I haven’t put back as much, I have continued to buy extras when on sale. Lately, I have stepped it up as I have noticed how sizes are getting smaller, while prices go up. Just a few days ago, I noticed that coffee that was 28.8 ozs last week - for $8.99 - has gone down to 22.8 ozs, for $10.99 in one of our local grocery stores!!

Our son and his wife, and two babies, are living with us. They are pitching in too. DIL is of the same mindset as I am. We will do whatever we have to do to make sure our combined family is warm, fed and secure. I make no apologies, and am certainly not embarrassed. It’s best to have it and not need it, than to need it and be caught without.

LMAO...you can disgree all you want....Y2K never happened...

I was part of a company that litterally freaked out....and where not compliant when the date flipped....they brought all electricians in on call on overtime because they had predicted all the production lines were going to shut down at midnite and we would have to basically hot wire them to make them work manually.......

Guess what...nothing happened...

It was all libtard (end of the world) hype.....they were even saying our Nukes would go into meltdown because the Computer systems would never recognise the date The whole thing was pure bullshit.....

It was BS.....sorry if you bought into it....cant blame you...some peeps in my own family were getting ready to bug out to avoid the social meltdown.....I just laughed.....and still do at family functions.......

“hey remember when you were getting to bug out over Y2K?”

LOL.

One small note: toothbrushes. A dentist once told me that the brushing is what cleans the teeth, not the toothpaste. Toothpaste is really just to make the whole process taste good, despite all the things they tell you on the package.

Once upon a time I did some serious prepping for a predicted disaster. It never happened, and serious money was just wasted. I was quite embarrassed.

I think it's embarrassing for you to admit you were embarrassed. Did what you stored go to waste? If you did it right you should still have the stuff, right?

Thanks for posting that chart, that serves to illustrate just how massive the hot air bubble built up since 2009 really is. The market is now down.

In only 6 days of the trading, the Dow has now lost over 1,900 points, which is over 11%.

The media can spin "corrections" all they like, but this free fall is probably just the beginning. The markets may "rally" again, but that will mostly be full of unicorns and hope. The real crash is in September.

"Once upon a time I did some serious prepping for a predicted disaster. It never happened, and serious money was just wasted. I was quite embarrassed."

My family (both Mom's and Dad's sides of the family) has always stored food for emergencies.

My wife's family stored stuff they canned but that was about it.

So we tended to not keep much around being we are a block away from the grocery. Even though I would urge we spend more on food and stock up the wife thought us foolish to do so very much. I have read far to many SHTF novels and tend to take these matters more seriously. She used to think I am blowing it all out of proportion. The key part of that phrase is "used to"...

Then a few summers back we had this massive belt of thunderstorms hit the area with very high winds and it took out all sorts of power lines for literally hundreds of miles around us. It was amazing how fast things went to sh!t...

The grocery stores emptied in just a day. Deliveries became spotty because gas stations could not pump gas so trucks holding food couldn't even get to our area and if they could manage they couldn't get gas to leave the area. We lost power for over a week some folks in our area for near a month. Our Town literally shut down. Sewers started backing up because there was no power to the pumps in low level areas and even if they could get a generator hooked up to the pumps there was no gas to run them. Luckily someone finally located an old hand cracked pump and managed to get some diesel for the generators before people's houses filled with sewage.

I drove to the next town over (about 8 miles) because my wife wanted ice. Of course there was none but she insisted I try. I called her on the cell phone (BTW eventually our cell towers in the area went dead because whatever backup power they had ran out) to tell her and she told me to drive to the bigger town north east of us to get some (about 35 miles) I told her I didn't have enough gas to get there and back she said to fill up there and I had to explain I had already talked to the State Troopers and they said that most of gas stations in that area who did have power were out of gas because of course EVERYONE was going there since all the others were closed.

And this was just a bunch of big thunder storms.

We now have a generator to run our freezer and our fridge and we have lots of food stuffed stocked up and we keep the cars at no less than half a tank and we stock gas and rotate it out each month. Because a few thunder storms took out some power lines.

Imagine if some nutters managed to take out just a few power plants in the area to the point they could not be fixed without rebuilding?

The market climbs a wall of worry. It could easily be at 18,000 in a month. And btw, if things are so dire, then why is gold falling?

I wonder who would be a better neighbor to have during a SHTF even you or a Mormom family?

Several years ago the DC area experienced a “derecho,” which may have been the same event you’re describing, Mad Dawgg. What I recall is that without electricity, the local supermarkets had to throw refrigerated food away, and middle-class people were out behind the stores fighting with low-income people for the contents of the dumpsters (and losing, predictably). You couldn’t buy anything because cash registers and card readers didn’t work. You couldn’t get cash from your bank or ATM because they didn’t have power. By the second day, there were groups of young men strolling through my neighborhood looking for trouble. You couldn’t call the cops or the paramedics, of course, and you couldn’t get prescription drugs.

Everything was pretty much back to normal by Day 5. Nonetheless, the experience was very instructive.
