Actually I really like Elko and Ely. Other than sit on top of an A/C indoors, what exactly does one DO out there? Go out at night and rake up burned garden plants while avoiding rattlesnakes?

Elko and Ely are in spectacular locales. Google the Ruby Mountains near Elko. Stunning scenery. The Snake Range near Ely is also spectacular.
But there are rattlesnakes. All one species: Great Basin.

You would be surprised how un-hot it usually is around Elko, but it gets cold real early. High desert is not the same as desert.
Night skys are nice. Daytime? Work at the mines.

Yup, Elko and Nevada suck you shouldn't come here. A rattlesnake will bite you while you are sitting on the air conditioner.
