For cruising chicks on a college campus, which has its own police force?

So in essence you're suggesting that the cop was cruising a college campus looking for a hot chick when he pulled over the Afro American girl who he accused of resisting arrest? If so, the media's account of the incident I saw and heard left that part out.

And if a reporter missed a golden opportunity to report that a Caucasian LEO harassed and injured a woman of color, that reporter is still scanning through the Help Wanted section this evening.

They were in Ferguson tonight, along with the Communist Party of the US. Chanting solidarity chants for class struggle, blah, blah, blah.

The Ferguson protesters roasted a pig, put Darren Wilson’s name on it with a police cap, then ate it.

The mounted the head on barricade right in front of the police who were trying to have civil conversation with them.

Again, I don’t think this is an issue with Freepers, but all of us know some one who is not carrying daily. That has to change because the police are quitting and will continue to quite in droves. As they do, you will need to be able protect yourself even more as certain segments of society become even more bolder...

Yes, but the cop's video cam didn't leave that out.

He was a Texas state police officer hanging out on a college campus, which has its own 21-person police force, and he was pulling over college chicklets to issue "warnings". We saw two pull-overs on the video. He chats up the first young woman - I think his supervisors' radar went on over that little exchange.

He sees his next target, and whips a U-ey to zoom up on her tail (incidentally breaking the campus speed law, which makes HIM a perp).

Clinging to her tail, he waits till he forces an error on her part (getting out of his presumed "way", she "doesn't signal a lane change", and now he can issue another "warning" to a young college female).

I'll bet the campus cops are glad to have him out of the picture, permanently.

I'm replying to your comment, above, and to the follow-on comment.

YOU started talking about Sandra Bland and officer Perp/Perv.

You got CRS syndrome?

OK, I'll take your word for what happened in the series of events that preceded the arrest, but it's a far cry from what I saw and heard from the media.

If the series of events that your post presented is correct, then the woman who was arrested certainly had a valid reason to resist arrest. Also, her death while in custody may not have been wholly due to a natural cause, if you get my drift.

“I’m replying to your comment, above, and to the follow-on comment.”

Regardless, I pointed out that your comment did not seem to make any sense. I was being polite. But feel free to double down on stupidity if you wish.

“YOU started talking about Sandra Bland and officer Perp/Perv.”

The ARTICLE, if you care to reference it above, IS about Sandra Bland and Brian Encinia. You are claiming the officer is “officer Perp/Perv”, not me. And I actually have not seen such a claim by anyone in the media or Bland’s family. So again, your comment makes no sense. None.

“You got CRS syndrome?”

When someone catches you in a mistake, the wise response would be to admit you are human and move on. There really is no need to use acronyms for curse words just because you are embarrassed over having your mistake identified. But you should be embarrassed over acting stupid, arrogant and rude.

I have read multiple articles and watched the dashcam video of the incident. If you want to assert something even Bland’s own family has not accused the officer of, you might want to document your accusations at least a little, so they do not appear so off the wall and random as you have been so far. And rather than get all huffy, offended, and condescending when someone questions your authoritative claims... back them up.

Many on this forum would love to see a fellow Freeper uncover something the MSM failed to catch. However, you will never get from here to there with your approach. I for one will not waste my time looking into your assertions because you have demonstrated ZERO credibility. That is not my fault. It is yours.

As far as I am aware, this incident took place on a public street. Campus police do not issue traffic tickets on public streets except when it is a school zone for children. So your seeming assertion that he was doing something outside of his jurisdiction is WRONG.

And it really would not matter if you are correct about the officer issuing warnings near a college hoping to meet a pretty college girl. Regardless of his motive, police officers do need to patrol streets near college campuses... maybe even more than your average city street.

ANONYMOUS is advocating the arrest of this officer. My question is “for what?”

Neither you nor they have answered this question. At least not with a credible answer.

It's still indeterminate whether it was her killed herself, or them, or some other agency.

I am not able to make a determination from the available evidence. She seemed to a be a few bricks short of a full load...

I have read multiple articles and watched the dashcam video of the incident.

Did you watch the WHOLE dashcam, including the incident with the other young lady on campus? It was kind of creepy...

As far as I am aware, this incident took place on a public street.

Why, yes, it did - AFTER he zoomed up behind her ON CAMPUS (and he incidentally broke the posted on-campus speed limit in the process), and pushed her from behind till she tried to get out of his seemingly-in-a-hurry-to-be-elsewhere way. But he was ACTUALLY in a hurry to pull HER over, being as how she was another young college girl.

The initial incident with Bland started on campus, with Officer Perp/Perv targeting her.

And it really would not matter if you are correct about the officer issuing warnings near a college hoping to meet a pretty college girl. Regardless of his motive, police officers do need to patrol streets near college campuses... maybe even more than your average city street.

Not "near", ON campus. I've NEVER seen an officer from another jurisdiction enforcing traffic laws on-campus, on several university campuses. And these were smaller campus safety departments.

The officer got suspended because his superiors saw what he was up to.

ANONYMOUS is advocating the arrest of this officer. My question is “for what?”

As for arresting him, I don't see where he's done anything chargeable (being a creepy 30-year-old uniform pulling over chickies is creepy, but I think that problem has been identified by those in charge of him), so ANONYMOUS is full of it.

I myself took issue with your post "For getting angry when she blew smoke in his face and refused to put out her cigarette when he was trying to do his job?".

She should have put her smoke out in his eye. That's what one of the Founding Fathers would have done with such a bullying "request" (actually just one of a series of "subservience" tests. She failed, spectacularly).

“Did you watch the WHOLE dashcam”

Watched what was posted on youtube which is quite long and includes incident from being pulled over until arrest.

“AFTER he zoomed up behind her ON CAMPUS (and he incidentally broke the posted on-campus speed limit in the process)”

How do you know this? When you make assertions like this which are not being discussed elsewhere, it is a good idea to share your verifiable sources.

“But he was ACTUALLY in a hurry to pull HER over, being as how she was another young college girl.”

You are claiming he was following her, hoping to pull her over because he thought she was a sexually attractive college girl, and he is looking for some sort of relationship. (unless you are implying worse - that he could be a rapist.) I really would love to know your sources for that. Are you a police officer in his department?

“being a creepy 30-year-old uniform pulling over chickies is creepy, but I think that problem has been identified by those in charge of him”

Maybe. Maybe not. A guy in his 30’s being attracted to college-aged girls is not necessarily creepy. If he is married, yes. If he tries to use his position to manipulate a girl, yes. I would never use my position of authority to take advantage of a girl whatever her age, but I do realize there are people who do. I know there are a lot of girls that age who use their attractiveness to try to manipulate officers as well. Works both ways. There are quite a few cops who end up marrying a girl they met from a traffic stop. Being attracted can go both ways and is not necessarily creepy. It is human. Cops don’t quit being human because they wear a badge and uniform.

“As for arresting him, I don’t see where he’s done anything chargeable”

My point exactly. As we learned from Hoodwinked, we do not arrest people for being creepy.

“She should have put her smoke out in his eye. “

Actually not. It was a lawful order. However, he did not make it clear that it was an order which was a mistake. He should have handled this much differently. He could have controlled his emotions better and avoided the escalation. It was unnecessary. And the outcome was tragic.

On the other hand, people like this woman need to understand that trying to teach an officer or judge a lesson is not a good idea. Same thing applies to dealing with someone who is rich, famous, or powerful. Or even just a street thug with a gun in his hand. Pick your battles.

And especially avoid unnecessary trips to jail on Friday. Makes a long weekend waiting for a Monday morning bail hearing even if you are 100% innocent. Not worth it just to prove a point.

It breaks my heart that she ended up dead. She apparently didn’t realize there were people who cared about her. Too bad she did not have someone telling her not to worry and that they would help her get things straightened out. Sad.

By watching the ENTIRE video, from during the first "chickie" stop,to the Bland stop.

Do you know how DIFFICULT it is to stay under the posted speed limit on a college campus? He ZOOMED. No contest - he broke the speed limit. She was going the speed limit, and he caught up with her in a hurry.

Actually not. It was a lawful order.

Presumably, you are talking about his little "put the smoke out" subservience test. If you are, then no - you're wrong.

I would phrase it - "pick your blanket parties". There are some dishes that are best served cold... :)

“Presumably, you are talking about his little ‘put the smoke out’ subservience test. If you are, then no - you’re wrong.”

I researched this some more. Depending on what expert you talk to, the officer directing her to put out the cigarette and then get out of the car, were right or wrong. Apparently there is some gray area to both.

It is apparently standard policy for officers to ask passengers to put out cigarettes. Some reasons for this include the possibility of someone getting burned (particularly the officer as this happens routinely).

However, you are correct. It was a request, not a command. But the officer then chose to have her step out, as he claimed in his report, to continue the traffic inspection safely. This is a lawful order.

Some dispute whether it is lawful if the officer does not explain why. There is some truth to this, but the way it works in the courtroom practically is that you must follow such commands even if the officer did not properly explain the reason. Whether his command was lawful in a particular situation may later be determined in a court of law. However, even if he failed to do it properly most courts will still side with the police officer that the person being ordered to exit his or her vehicle must comply anyway or is subject to arrest.

There are things the officer could have done to avoid escalating this event.

Here are a couple of factors that played a roll in the escalation of this event on Bland’s side:

1. she said she did not understand why she was being delayed and ticketed / she was openly angry

The officer at this point could reasonably want the driver to calm down before getting back on the road so as to avoid getting in an accident. Often people do get in accidents due to anger, worry, or nervousness after having been ticketed or just pulled over.

The officer also may have felt it was necessary to clarify how the driver should act differently in the future in order to avoid being pulled over. She clearly did not understand why.

2. Officers are trained to detect drug and alcohol use that could impair a person’s driving ability. Bland did have some THC in her system. This probably did not impair her driving ability, but it may have contributed to her paranoia, anger, and be related to her emotional state that led to suicide.

I am speculating here, but I think Bland may have had emotional problems and was self medicating with marijuana. I know people who are usually in a good mood because they are usually under the influence of THC, but become angry or depressed if they go long without it. These people usually do not like cops.

In this case the officer wrote a warning, not a ticket. But Bland’s demeanor, words, and behavior could have reflected the need to further investigate her sobriety or emotional ability to drive safely.

If she had cooperated on the cigarette, she probably would not have been ordered out of her vehicle. It appears to me he was ready to tell her to move along and have a good day.

He could have taken actions that resulted in a better outcome, and so could she.
