Is Gath located anywhere near the Gaza strip? Aren’t the Philistines the ancestors of the modern day Palestinians?

They would like you to think that! The folks that inhabit the region of Palestine now are Arabs. The old Philistines were Aegean - related to the Greeks. But Palestine was named that while the Philistines were still there. (I thought it was a “made up” name by the UN or the British. But it is an old name.)

Off topic, but as much faith as David had in God - he still grabbed five stones!

The so called Palestinians call themselves “Filistini” in Arabic (and Hebrew), a constant reminder that the “Philistines” are still the mortal enemy of Israel.
