We are, or should be, a constitutional republic, not a democracy. But too many people, including elected officials, talk of us as being a democracy.

The federal government can run deficits. States can't, but states are run by politicians who want to promise more than they can give.
The feds move in with grant money with mandates attached using funds that will never be produced or collected.

The few states that have large enough rural/suburban communities to offset the urban cesspools are quickly being overrun by illegal aliens allowed in by the administration.
