I have not followed this story very closely, due in part to the dearth of information. For example, nobody seems able to tell the specifications of Clinton's "server." Or who provided it.
However, I'm not seeing where she ever said that she obtained this mysterious server because she wanted to confine herself to one email account and/or one device. When she spoke (at the presser in March) about the one device convenience, she wasn't talking about server but about a single email account.
I understand that her explanation was ridiculous and untrue but it had nothing to do with the server.

You are right about the server details. However, in HER mind, she obviously knew what was going on - that is, the existence of the server and to pretend that she could later say that it was for expediency is just not believable. It was clearly so that she could control the information, the question is why and why take the risk?
