Peace-filled Living Bread
TUNE: HYFRYDOL
1. Freed from Pharaoh, freed from slavry
Isral murmured and complained.
In Sins wild-er-ness they wandered
And forgot what God had gained.
So, to teach them that our Father
Can provide for evry need
Manna came to them from heaven;
Bread, for life, on which to feed.
2. Freed from hunger for a moment
Crowds sought Jesus for a sign.
Foolish people! When He fed them
He had shown, but they were blind.
La-bor-ing for food that per-i-shes
So their bodies might be fed
They missed Him who came from heaven
To this world as Living Bread.
3. Freed from darkness, freed from slavry
Christians murmured and complained.
Gainst each other they made charges;
Lost the peace that Christ had gained.
So, to teach them that our Father
Can dispel all earthly strife
Bread was broken—they, though many
Formed one Body in His life.
4. Freed from darkness, freed from slavry
Do we murmur and complain?
In our strife-torn pilgrim pathway
Lose the peace that Christ has gained?
Come to Him who came from heaven—
Of the Church He is the Head!—
We, though many, will find union
In this peace-filled Living Bread.
