WIN 10 Installation

Posted on 07/28/2015 7:51:07 PM PDT by hsmomx3

Just checked my windows update and noticed WIN 10 attempted to download and failed three times.

It is not July 29th...yet.

Anybody else notice this on their system?

I am running WIN 8.1 and everything is compatible for the upgrade.

Anybody having trouble can search ( MediaCreationToolx64.exe ) and download the tool.
I'm updating right now, 31% in. I hope this Win10 doesn't blow up in my face.

Left the little window in the corner, then go to settings...update and security are right there...

Had a concern about going back to Win 7 - I've been reading on the MS forums and there is some concern that Win 7 keys are "consumed" by 10 and you won't be able use them again. After some reading it seems that if you have a good win 7 key and disc you should be ok to do a fresh install of 7 and be able to activate it. You might have to use the phone service to activate the key.

This could come in handy of you have a hard drive crash or MB failure.

I sure wish MS could have made this process a little simpler.

I am not as computer savvy as you seem to be. Wish I could answer your questions.

Right now, I would love to turn that One Drive off. Why do I need it???

One Drive is for cloud storage. You should be able to use it with any MS account. Hotmail - Outlook - MSN, etc.

My son installed Windows 10 on his laptop as soon as it was available and now earlier today his hard drive gave him an imminent failure notice - which has never happened before.

Luckily it is still under warranty (only 6 months old) and we sent it back to HP repair today.

Maybe just a coincidence but I know that I am perfectly happy with Windows 7 :)
