Here in Florida the big breweries have paid off the state legislatures for decades to make things difficult for microbreweries,
The big boys control the laws used to stifle micro brews and the distributers.
The bigs do not want to lose market share
I do not drink Bud.
Michigan has over 200 craft breweries right now, and I’ve been to 164 of them (not counting the ones that have closed). Yummmmmmm
Michigan really is leading the way in craft beer. Bells and Founders are all popular far outside of the state, and they have some outstanding in-state only breweries like Shorts and Kuhnhenn’s. The state has embraced this industry, pushing it as a form of tourism. I live just outside the state and as a consequence listen to their talk radio (after the previous local guy showed himself to be an asshat), and any state reps or Detroit reps who are on make sure to mention it.
47 local craft breweries in New Mexico (less than 2 million people!) plus we still have a film subsidy. Actually, I think ours does some good, because a lot of touristry is associated with it.
Not to mention much varied terrain. The Afghanistan mountain scenes were filmed about 10 miles from my house.
