It looks like the Occupy Democrats Facebook page has a problem with making intelligent memes. (like this one)
I'm NO FAN of John McCain, but you can count me as one of those who didn't like what Trump had said about him.
I also wasn't a fan of the other comment, but there are 4 reasons this meme needs to XYZ, because it's stupid is showing:
I wasn’t bothered by what Trump said about McCain. McCain all too often permits his injuries to be attributed to torture when the fact of the matter is that he was injured when he ejected from his airplane.
It’s a shame he was a POW but that does not qualify him for ‘hero’ status.
Sgt. Alvin York was a hero and when you compare York to McCain is when you realize that McCain was not a hero.
What do you think about General Wainwright and those slackers who survived the Bataan Death March?
Dumb as a box of rocks. Trump didn’t disparage the service of a POW. He said he wasn’t a war hero. There’s a big difference.
They were in the wrong place at the wrong time. They did their duty to the best of their ability under difficult circumstances and should be so recognized. But if we had depended upon them we would be speaking Japanese now. At the beginning of the Patton movie we have this quote. “Now, I want you to remember that no bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his country.”
Some of them were heroes who risked their lives to save their fellow soldiers. Others were not heroes at all and that is according to people like James Clavell who was there and from the accounts in the book “Prisoners of the Japanese”.
Simply being a POW no more accords someone ‘hero’ status than attending a public school makes one a ‘winner’ no matter how much the liberal establishment would like such a thing.
I know you mean well but tossing around the title of hero and granting it to so many people cheapens the title and prevents us from distinguishing truly heroic acts from ordinary, everyday behaviors.
Really, if everyone is a hero then no one is.
He actually said McCain was a war hero four times in the speech. He also said McCain was a war hero only because he got captured.
BTW, I assume your view extends to all who were imprisoned in the Hanoi Hilton, or does it only apply to prisoners who later ran for president who you don't like?
And as for his comments about John McCain, McCain shouldn't be taking shots at Trump by calling his supporters "crazies" if he can't take the heat coming back in his direction. I do not like McCain at all and many Republicans don't either. McCain has been running on the vapors from his notoriety as a POW in Vietnam for years. He may have been a hero but he hasn't done anything worth note in the Senate or for the Republican Party since then. His involvement in the Keating Five scandal showed his true colors. He almost accepted John Kerry's offer for the democRAT VP slot back in 2004. At one point, he said he was considering switching to the democRAT party. He is not that bright in foreign policy issues either. He met with the Syrian rebels and wanted the US to give them weapons. They were the early seeds for ISIS. And he was the God-awful worst GOP presidential candidate in 2008 that I've seen in my lifetime. I stopped voting for him when I lived in Arizona because I considered him a collaborator with the enemy camp. He's lost his moral compass and has become a shameful embarrassment to the Republican Party. He needs to be put out to pasture by the Arizona voters.
The one trait I like about Trump above all else, is the fact that he doesn't cave and start groveling to the PC crowd as soon as someone in our "highly offended" culture gets their panties twisted in a knot about something he says. He doesn't say "I'm sorry" but just moves on and tries to do better. In comparison, it is disgusting how Martim O'Malley on the democRAT side, emasculated himself and almost started crying when he simply said "all lives matter" and was immediately attacked for it and he backtracked to the PC version, "black lives matter". Trump would not have apologized and made himself look like a weak leader, like O'Malley did.
As for McCain being a hero, here are my sentiments in that. While McCain certainly made sacrifices for his country, as did all POW's and deserve my high esteem for those sacrifices. However, how does that elevate him or any other POW to hero status? Technically Bowe Bergdahl was a POW, after he deserted. Obama even used that as justification to release enemies back to the battlefield to kill other Americans
With McCain's spotty record as a Republican Senator, my esteem for him is so very low, it is to the point of non-existent now. He considers legislators that openly want to destroy America, as his friends & colleagues.
What about McCain calling thousands of Trump supporters, “Crazies” clearly implying they’re all mentally ill sickos.
No comment about that huh?
I’m no McCain fan either, I’ve done some pretty hard hitting graphics about him in the past to show for it too.
Obviously Trump supporters aren’t crazies. He’s nowhere near my top pick, but my dad likes him.
Just because I didn’t say anything about it doesn’t mean I approve.
