I’d be interested to see a contrastive study that examines the effect of hormonal imbalance or hypopituitarism on adolescents. This study looks at adolescents with gender dysphoria and finds no hormonal imbalance. Is it equally true that adolescents who do in fact have hormonal imbalance do not have gender problems?
Agreed. Sex is a biological reality. It’s not “assigned” by anyone.
Actually, one is a sex. Gender is a grammatical notion, not a biological notion, that has been expanded to mean “sex-as-defined-by-sentiment-and-conventions-rather-than-biology” by the sort of people who do not believe in the existence of objective truth.
One is NOT "assigned" a sex--and definitely not at birth. One IS a sex-- male or female, and that is determined at conception. In the English language, the associated adjectives are "masculine" and "feminine," the categories for children are "boys" or "girls," the categories for adults are "men" and "women."
Humans, like other mammalian species, have sexual dfferentiation for reproductive purposes. Conforming well to accepted sexual development criteria is a key indicator of health.
Gender has nothing to do with this: it's a grammatical construction. It is a property of nouns and pronouns in English. In many languages it differentiates adjectives and other modifiers.
The substitution of "gender" for "sex" is simply unworkable. In medical practice, acting on an incorrect assumption about a patient's sex could result in false diagnoses and dangerous courses of treatment. The effectiveness of some medications may depend on the sex (not gender) of the patient.
And Facebook's 58 Gender Options won't help you there.
Yet there are many in the modern era who claim that having “two dads” is no problem whatsoever.
In other words the title of the article goes too far because it has not been shown that brain structure/wiring plays no role in gender identity.
So it is still possible that gender confusion could be biological.
Gender confusion starts with the word “gender.” Gender is a grammatical term. It is not sex. Gender confusion is the inability to determine correctly the gender- masculine, feminine or neuter of a noun, any noun //For public school grads among our journalists- a noun is a word that denotes a person, place or thing//. Sex is a biological phenomenon that has nothing to do with grammar or, therefore, gender.
Yes, sadly it is so.
Applause. As Michael Savage said, once upon a time, we would have locked someone up for their own protection if they even considered mutilating themselves to change their gender. I suffer from mental illness myself, and the major point is most of what I think to be true is 100% completely a trick of my mind. For example some people with OCD are absolutely sure they are being followed. Just because you think something to be fact, doesn’t make it so.
There was a hilarious article on a Scotia Pride parade, where the transgenders were offended by the drag queens.
Hence, the (mostly heterosexual) men in dresses who think they are women are offended by the homosexual men who wear dresses to rebel against conventions.
I have CDO.
It's like OCD but the letters are in alphabetical order, like they should be.
Seriously, though--I do get that feeling often.
