Forgive me, weren’t they predicting about ten years ago that the Arctic ice would be all gone by about now and parts of New York City would be underwater as well? Somebody ought to tell these people about the expedition to study climate change in the Arctic that got postponed this week because of the thick Arctic ice holding up the boat.

Has anyone done the math? I tried to do a rough estimate of how much the volume of an extra 30 feet of water (all oceans)would be. My guess was that all the land above sea level would need to be covered with ice several miles thick.

I am no math genius so I would love to see someone’s calculations of volume of water (above seal level) trapped in the Artic and Antarctic vs. what volume and additional 10 feet (3 meters)in the oceans. It could be roughed by assuming the Planet is flat, and shorelines, remain the same, all water ends up only in the oceans.
