I’ve always liked instrumental metal tracks.

There’s some quite good ones on a few video games. Descent 2, Quake and Quake 2 come to mind.

Metallica’s instrumentals are some of my favorite. I’ve never gotten into the video game stuff (but I do like the music from World of Warcraft, though its not metal), but I do know a guy, Mirai Kawashima, who did the soundtrack for Final Fantasy XII I think it was. His band called Sigh is legendary here, and a real treat to see when they play their rare gigs.
