His non-apology (an apology which didn’t contain the words “I’m sorry”) was the end of me following him on Facebook and Twitter. I have been contemplating unfollowing him for a while as his posts moved from funny to political to mostly political with a dash of found-somewhere-else-on-the-Internet memes.

Enough with him.

If Takei really wants to be angry then why isn’t he mad at Roosevelt and those in Democratic Party that endorsed the Internment of the Japanese during W.W. II? Is there anything more terrible and shameful than that period of our history?

The Internment of the Japanese was an over re-action at the time. If it wasn’t then why was not the same done to German-Americans, especially those involved in the American Bund Movement??

Crossed swords with Shatner? Uh-oh! Such a frightening metaphor!

It was actually meant quite literally.

Honestly? Yes.

Roosevelt's refusal, for years, to allow large numbers of Jews fleeing Europe and Nazi Germany into the U.S., and his refusal to expend military assets to bomb railways used (almost exclusively at times) to bring Jews to the death camps during WWII.

Internment is terrible, but standing by while genocide happens is worse.

All German Americans were on a watch list. Some were arrested, some were “deported” as persona non grata. The difficulty in CA and in HI, was the overwhelming number of indistinguishable Japanese and the potential for an in situ 5th column. There was in both cases quite a bit of cultural bigotry, which Germany and Japan did little to dispel with their “superman” ideology, and bushido.
