I saw the story of Dylann Roof's website break on my Twitter feed this morning, and in a just a few hours it's in the New York Times. The site contains images of Roof, as well as a manifesto in text. Here's the text (icky). Here's an image (icky):
I've taught college undergraduates. If there are no misspellings in this text -- and on a quick scan, I found none -- then Roof, a high-school dropout, didn't write it.
The manifesto is also very well-written, for what it is; I'd want to see a writing sample from Roof, possibly from his high school English teacher, before I concluded Roof wrote it.
So I wonder then, if not Roof, who? Could he simply have appropriate some other racist's work? Well, I Google for phrases from the Manifesto, and I don't find any hits other than this. So who wrote it?
The Times is right to be skeptical:
It is not clear who wrote the words and who took the pictures, but the manifesto appears to trace the evolution of the author’s racist worldview and concludes with a section labeled “An Explanation.
If there's one thing we've learned over the past few years, it's that "Internet evidence is not evidence," because it's too easy to alter or even manufacture it. Provenance is key. So while the site may be authentic, and the pictures may be authentic, there's one big piece of the site that doesn't look authentic at all.

No, because I do not need to see a wingnut video where someone claims Sandy Hook was a hoax. If it was, the amount of people who would have to be in on it would be absolutely staggering - numbering in the hundreds, if not thousands.
Someone posted crap about that same video here (before the thread got zotted) the other day & it did not take long for those who watched even just a little of it to point out the factual flaws & leaps of "logic".
Tell me, is it your contention people did not die that day in Sandy Hook? Or are you the subset of wingnuttery that knows people died but believes it was part of some grand scheme orchestrated by students, families, school administrators, townspeople, police, the coroner & city officials, and Obama?
You might wanna go back and reread his manifesto as it it littered with spelling errors. Just sayin...

His parents were from South Africa I think I heard which might explain why he knew about it.
I did a search on Dylann Roof. Lots of articles from liberals.
One of the big issues is that the police gave him a hamburger.
There seems to be a question of how many people were at the prayer meeting. Nine deceased with one survivor and dipshirt makes it 11. Anybody see a different number?
Dipshirt asked the survivor if she was hit. Strange.
Arresting Officers were three Americans of European descent and one Officer is an American of African descent.
Dipshirt looked pretty relaxed and so did the police.
A by commission blogger in England just happened across an America guy's site and just happened to take notes on the writings and this troubled American youth just happens to go on a killing spree shortly after. While I'm not on board with Roof being a government patsy at the time of the killings, the government is certainly using the tragedy to forward their agenda in any way they can. If that means them ordering Amazon to ban the sale of flags or creating fake manifestos at this late date, then it nothing more than letting no crisis be wasted.

There was a FR thread from the Daily Mail (?) on his step mother ranting her ex aka the dad but it had little to do with him. Other than that, I’ve heard nothing.
How many hundreds of people were involved in Fast & Furious, Benghazi, SOLYNDRA (Any accountability been seen there yet?), Sebellious crimes, Lisa Jackson crimes, Eric Holder crimes, HACKING SHARYL ATKKISSON'S COMPUTER, Spying on James Rosen, IRS shut-down of Tea Party ahead of the 2012 election, ERASURE OF LOIS LERNER EMAIL BACKUP TAPES, Obamacare funding crimes, Obama illegally funding group to oust Netanyahu, blah blah blah.. I’ve taught at the university level for almost 20 years. My first thought after reading it last week was that he did not write it.
If this was an op, he was supposed to kill himself. He didn’t, so he’ll surely be killed in prison.
