The Civil War was fought over slavery.

Yes. Amongst other things.

Outlawing the Democrat Party would be a good start.

The more I think of it, the more I like the idea of allowing the territory once known as “the United States of America” to be balkanized into a number of small republics, based not on state lines, but on Congressional districts, or even county by county, characterizing each of these entities as “red” or “blue” based on historic voting patterns, and calling upon the “red” districts (which are almost contiguous across the former US) to form into a new nation dedicated to the founding principles of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution of the United States. The Amendments shall also be adopted, with the exception of the 16th, 17th and 18th (which was repealed by the 21st), and an amendment which declares, for Federal purposes, that any civil union, be it marriage in the traditional sense, or a personal binding contract shall be recognized, but the authority to grant or dissolve such unions shall always remain under the authority of the several States.

The “blue” districts may set up whatever kind of cockamamie set of rules to govern themselves they want. But once boundaries are set up between “red” and “blue” districts, any migration from “blue” to “red” will be strictly controlled, and any trouble maker from a “blue” district may be summarily expelled from the “red” district in which they seek to foment insurrection or form a protest group.

I wish this could be achieved without bloodshed, but the time grows short in which that goal may be accomplished.
