BOOM ! Our suspicions were 100% accurate in the review of all prior information coming from the released details.

An “accidental” self-induced injury stemming from Freddie Gray standing, not being seat-belted; and as a consequence of the van moving/stopping, Freddie Gray impacting the wall of the transport van. Also including the presence of opiates and cannabinoid within his toxicology report.

The autopsy has not been made public, and the deadline for releasing evidence in the case to defense lawyers is Friday.

The beginning of the end for Mosby and Obama.

But was it racism?
Is there any evidence they habitually belted in white perps but let black suspects tumble around in the back of the van?

I said and still say the idiot ran and rammed his head into the back door. You can’t watch many Cops episodes without seeing this often.

We all have been in vehicles. You are not thrown about during a ride on a city street. I believe he tried to escape and ran into the van door and ended up killing himself.

Maybe Mosby can get a job working with Mike Nifong? Is there room for the sleaziest president ever there too?

Put a reporter in that same van and drive on the same streets. He can wear padding if he wants to though it will not be needed.

Couldn’t he have sat down, belted or not?

I believe he tried to escape and ran into the van door and ended up killing himself.

Escape how? His wrists and ankles were shackled and he was in a locked compartment. You think maybe he thought if he hit the door often enough with his head he'd punch right through it?

Make sure that his hands are cuffed behind him.

“You are not thrown about during a ride on a city street”

If the driver wants you to be thrwn around during a ride on a city street, you’ll be thrown around during a ride on a city street. Especially if you’re in wrist & ankle restraints, with no seatbelt, on a metal surface.

This autopsy report should clear most of the officers charged in Grays death.

The only crime that would (or should) result in a conviction would be for negligent homicide (manslaughter), not murder, for failure to secure Gray to his seat after he was shackled. The only officer that should face this charge would be the van driver and any other officer who did not buckle up or secure Gray to his seat.

All others should be (and likely will be) cleared.

What about the repeated failure to respond to his requests for medical attention (until the next-to-last stop, by which point he was already lethargic).

“”Couldn’t he have sat down, belted or not?””

Or stayed on the floor.

This was self inflicted, not intentional by the van driver.

My understanding is that a few weeks prior to this incident, a new policy went into place, requiring officers to belt in the prisoners. This leads me to believe that:

a) It was common practice to not buckle in a prisoner, especially prior to this rule change.

b) The City of Baltimore likely had made some payouts on settlements/lawsuits...trying to get hurt in a police van may have been a common practice?

Also, as I understand it, the driver was black himself. And, the sequence of events was:

1) Arresting officers put Gray in Van
2) Van drives a few blocks and stops
3) Driver takes Gray out and does paperwork (I think this practice is to get perps out of the immediate area, where crowds might gather)
4) Driver puts Gray back in van

Based on this series of events, I have no idea why one of the original arresting officers is being charged with Manslaughter (he’s white btw). He could not control what the driver did, after he pulled Gray out and back in.

Anyway, it seems like Baltimore had a long history of not belting in prisoners, leading up to this...and for expediency they would shove people in the van in a temporary position, drive a few blocks, and then do paperwork/re-position the prisoner...but not necessarily buckle him up. A flawed practice, but not racist.

Every perp claims they need to go to the hospital. Easier to escape, and better food than jail.

Maybe they thought he was faking or malingering? Who knows how many other criminals riding in the van tried to claim they were sick or injured so they could go to the hospital instead of to jail?
