The indian lore in the southeastern US regarding animal sightings is a little different. Seeing an owl in the daytime means change, the death of something. Generally regarded as being bad but not uniformly bad without exception.

My friend asked me if I saw the foxes in “contrary” position, meaning dead. I saw all three alive. He said contrary position would be bad change, but otherwise it was benign.
