A gun turn in (buy back) event was held in San Jose, California, on the 6th of June, 2015. The number of firearms turned in was meager for such a large population center, with one fourth turned in by one person. There are no photographs of the firearms turned in available yet, but it is highly probable that the 47 firearms turned in by one person were the collection of a family member who died. That is a common source of guns turned in at these events. From mercurynews.com :
SAN JOSE -- A no-questions-asked guns buyback run by the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office has netted nearly 200 weapons, including 47 from one person. While the experts agree that gun turn in events do not reduce crime or violence with guns, they are seen to be useful as political propaganda, sending the clear message that "Guns are bad and should be turned in to police."
Where free people can still buy firearms privately, private buyers often show up and pay more for the decent firearms, spoiling the political theater in the process.
It is a hard sell to say "guns are bad, turn them in" when you have citizens with signs saying "Cash for guns".
Is that a model 61 Winchester .22LR pump action I see in the pile? Stupid is as stupid does.
Look at those poor guns!! Tied up and left out in the elements to rust. No one to clean them, feed them bullets, or take them out to shoot some deer. This is outrageous. Stop gun abuse!
many may be “parts” guns from a local or several local gun stores.. that decided that the space was not worth the parts.
as for the pump .22 I have one (mossy) they are fun but a bit nose heavy!
only 300 million more to go lol. it’s like having a hammer or screwdriver buyback. it’s ridiculous. what’s more ridiculous and upsetting is the trampling of the 2nd amendment.
“It is a hard sell to say “guns are bad, turn them in” when you have citizens with signs saying “Cash for guns”....
Yes, and it is easy to buy guns when you have criminals carrying signs saying “GUNS FOR CASH”....
Try Baltimore, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City for starters.
From the pictures I have seen the guns are about 90% junk and maybe 5% nice guns and about 5% real treasures.
This stack looks a lot better than most “buy back” guns. Quite a few decent models.
“ignorant widows who did not know the value of what they were disposing of, getting pennies on the dollar for valuable artifacts,”
Maybe the people running these events should be prosecuted for fraud- essentially obtaining valuable property under false pretenses.
Does anyone see any assault weapons in that pile?
“Does anyone see any ‘assault weapons’ in that pile?”
Every Liberal does, LOL! And that’s ALL that matters.
As for me and mine...they will remain MINE. This, ‘buy back’ cr@p is SUCH a scam.
I don’t see any assault rifles or even guns which look like assault rifles. I do think I see one air rifle. Surprisingly it might be a pretty good one too.
I see a few I would take home if I found them at the dump, but most I would leave there.
I wonder how many of those guns were recovered from a boating accident.
You mean the police wouldn’t advise them if they attempted to turn in a collector gun? How thoughtless to take advantage of some of the ignorant public.
I would take every single one home with me. I am sure there are a few clunkers, but even those I would look over to see if they could be fixed easily.
If there are any which are worthless, I would save them for the next turn in program, no questions asked.
I see a ruger 10/22 in that pile. What a waste! I could use another one.
Not dead yet...
I would bet not one of those long guns was used in a crime. Not one.
