This is going to damage semiconductors and maybe some low current discrete electrnics.

It won’t do squat to power lines or transformers. Or to your can opener. Your toaster will probably be okay. If your electric oven just has knobs, it will be fine (timers and thermostats might be toast) so relax.

You don’t need to shield whole buildings.

Cookin’ with gas. Good as long as the supply holds up. Probably more reliable than the electric company.
