The move is aimed at replacing a defect in the airbags' inflators that can cause them to deploy with explosive force, sending metal shrapnel hurtling toward drivers and passengers.
I received a recall notice last year from 2006 Honda to replace my airbag inflator device for this very reason. When I forgot about it they sent me a second notice this year with all the dangers printed in red ink and where to go to have it replaced. I very impressed with the people at Honda. It took less than an hour to fix.
