Fox had an expert on that described a possible way it could happen, if it startled the engineer, who might have reflexively jerked, and lost control of the speed.

But, I don’t know enough about train to know if his explanation made sense.

How long for that train to go from 50mph to 106mph?

The expert is bogus. There is no way a surprised jerk movement could instantly take a train from 50 to 100 mph that quickly. Or reduce speed from100 to 50 that quickly either.

I read that a RR Engineer said there were multiple levers to advance in order to increase speed, not just one. SO this guy was so startled, he pushed them all forward at the same time? Heading into a curve he had to have known was coming?
