I believe that the figure is 200 million single men in China, as we speak. And yes I made an error, the Chinese of Genghis Khan went west, not east.
Sometimes democratic shifts suggest changes in national boundaries. NATO supported that process in Yugoslavia, but opposes it in Ukraine, for some reason.
I would say the Russians have been successful in maintaining control in their east, at the same time employing migrant labor from China and working with indigenous populations. The trans-Siberian railway was a great idea.
