Apple has an evangelist — Mike Huckabee

You might guess that Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor and Baptist preacher who recently penned the bestseller "God, Guns, Grits and Gravy," is a PC guy (as in computers, not consciousness).

Wrong.

"I'm an Apple snob," Huckabee declared here Friday. "I have pretty much everything Apple."

The most remarkable thing about that video is how many idiots would actually sit still for 55+ minutes to watch a presentation on Git.

Please be serious.

A room full of NASA IT people [the home of Global Warming Climate Change Polar Vortex Bombogenesis Whatever It's Called This Week, and Oh, Muslim Outreach] is supposed to be impressive.

Since you've obviously got more money than brains, go buy a clue: government IT People are by far and away the stupidest morons in the business. Most coders won't even subcontract for them because they're so stupid. The only way they got a vehicle to Mars was because they could throw billions of dollars at the problem.

Whatever. You can rest assured some company picked up the tab for her little junket to Poland to give that talk (free foreign aid, LOL!). And that they rightly consider her well worth whatever they are paying her.

As for Git, it's far superior to past version control systems and to the garbage much of corporate America still uses.

Landing a robot safe on Mars is the definition of impressive.

Absolutely true!

Government IT clowns are even dumber than corporate IT clowns, not that the latter deserve any respect! But it was government IT types who provisioned the clueless idiots in my #9 with those nondescript Dells or whatever they are (I've a grudge against Dell, having endured a spate of motherboard failures a decade ago)!

The bottom line is, those who know computing most thoroughly by and large prefer to use Macs as their personal computers. Get over it.

Thank you for the thoughtful response to my post. Despite my criticism of Apple’s management and legal team, I too must admit that without the competition from Apple the electronic and computing devices available to consumers would likely be far inferior to what they currently are.

Last night, my wife and I were at the annual “Heritage Dinner” at the Officer’s Club at McChord Field on Joint Base Lewis McChord. It is an annual get together for retired officers. I was actually shocked at the number of retired officers with iPhones. The WWII veteran sitting across from the table told us that he hardly uses his computer anymore because he does everything with his iPhone. The officiating chaplain wanted our card, but then had my wife enter our email and phone on his iPhone instead.

So I must admit that Apple has created products that consumers find incredibly useful. And despite my disgust over much of the legal tactics used by technology companies, overall we are all better off because of the competition.
