Students at Arizona State University are petitioning the college to drop the name of “walk-only” zones, claiming the word “walk” is both offensive and “ableist.”
Walk-only zones on ASU, according to the campus website, prohibits cars, bikes, and motorcycles from using the path. The name, however, has a number of students upset.
Some ASU students have taken offense to the term and have posted their grievances online and have started a petition.
“ASU is one of the largest universities in the United States and is a place of work, learning, and leisure to over 75,000 people on campus,” the petition begins. “Enforcing “Walk Only” zones onto campus property marginalizes disabled bodies who cannot walk.”
The title of the petition is named “Change the name to “Pedestrian Only” or any other inclusive title.” Asking to change the zones to “Pedestrian Only,” however, is an extremely odd request, because “pedestrian” comes from the Latin word “pedester,” which means someone is literally “on foot” walking.

Sometimes I wonder if I am suffering some hallucinations when I see idiotic things in the news everyday.

They need to get on top of the curve here and say those signs THREATENED them, not just OFFENDED them.
I have a better idea ..
Round up all these idiots, refund their tuition money, and expel them from the University.
Were I a trustee of that fine institution, I would not want a bunch of whiny morons going about claiming degrees from my university.
Better simply to be rid of them.
Imagine trying NOT to hire people who think like this.

My, my, these poor little students are in for a rough ride when they enter the real world.
I guess they don't teach Latin anymore.
Just way too much free time in some people’s lives...
I really wonder what it’s like waking up every morning to the thought: “What can I find to be offended by today?”
If it was one my kids creating this petition I would drag them out of that school by their ear. I would refuse to spend my money so my kids could waste their time on stupid B.S. like this. Of all the issues in this country and abroad they’re concerned with “ableists”...really??? I really wish people would stop pandering to every whiny baby that has a complaint.
