So basically it’s a modern documentary. I’d say that was a joke but it probably isn’t.

It really is like someone in DC played the game and decided to make a lot of it real...for fun.

I think I've seen this movie

Lets play a game of tic-tac-toe.

We've heard a lot of talk about "resistance." The time is coming to fish or cut bait.

It used to be like sand here in the 90s and earlier from what I hear (got here mid 90s before the vanishing). Then suddenly it’s gone and rarely seen outside microbrewery type places. And only then at top dollar. FOR BAD SAS!

I mainly write for the record, FWIW. I have no realistic hope of changing the outcome.

Its sad that some people see this all so clearly and how so many are fully invested in ostrich theory.

I am actually looking forward to it in a way. Because most will suffer the full measure of their actions and the survivors then have a chance at rebuilding. Not like the majority want anything different. If they did, they;d take their head out of the ground.

Please watch this youtube version of “The Last Valley,” 1971, Michael Caine and Omar Shariff. At least watch the first two 12-minute segments. Give everybody AKs and ARs, add Islam to the mix, and this is the future that I see. You can skip the 3 minutes of pre-credits.

The Last Valley
The best post-SHTF movie, ever. Even if it’s set in 1630.

I will do that tonight for sure.

I have been an ardent sci- fi/Fantasy/Dystopia reader since I was a kid. The great thing about fiction like that comes when the writer (which of course you know) bases his fiction on likely scenarios and extrapolates logical outcomes...even hen sharks with frikkin lazerbeams are involved.

I use the Fallout games a lot as an example because when I look at the world today I see people that, in a SHTF, will not worry about food because they can call for pizza. They simply are so mentally removed from the basics of economy and the way society works (or does not) that they will literally be trying to use their neighbor’s cell phone to call from since theirs isn’t working...

Fallout is the result of that. Those people are slaves when the alpha gangs come to town. If they don’t starve first. They cannot build a fire. they don’t know how to hunt or fish and have not the tools to do so, much less fashion any. And without Google, they have no books to learn how from.

At best you have scared and starving sheep banding together. Then a wolf emerges among them and the sheep go meekly along.

I give it a month after the store shelves empty before the American population is in 5-6 figures. All the lib types will be dead or slaves, sexual and otherwise to the gangs.

Most survivalists wont because their book learning, far better than none, will fall to the gangs onslaught.

Ex military with actual combat experience and genuine mountain men types will be the survivors. Because they -—understand-— survival. And combat. Which are going to be the two things most ‘front and center’ in the brave new world.

I don’t see a coherent military staying together. I think there will be bunker dwellers plotting to rebuild but no one to do it.

All these things share two things. Basic dystopian themes. Basic human nature. And thats why I see it as our future.

Anyone that has not read that really should. At least when it happens, they won’t be totally shocked. And it will happen.

It’s funny/sad in a way that Zombie books/games/movies are so popular as well. Because if you take out the supernatural or biowar aspect of them, they look exactly like a collapse SHTF. The Max Brooks “Zombie Survival guide” is a great ‘starter’ manual for anyone remotely interested in saving their families. Just replace Zombie with Feral/gang and the book is probably 75% accurate or better. Seems like he intended it to be exactly that. A subversive warning.

The sad part is that the people watching/reading/playing don’t realize how close the realistic/non Zombie parts of that ‘entertainment’ actually is.

The course of human history...

For every good ending, 100 bad ones prevail.

I am not optimistic about the future of this country, given the proclivities of the majority of voters these past few years.

Obama is horrible, but not as stupid than those who put him in office.

Did you ever think, back when you were taking your Oath, that you’d despise the very people that live under our Constitution, and won’t lift a finger to read/understand it? I’m there already.

Huum... you and I got different thoughts from Black. One of my favorite stripper songs!;-)

“Black”

Hey... oooh...

Sheets of empty canvas, untouched sheets of clay
Were laid spread out before me as her body once did.
All five horizons revolved around her soul as the earth to the sun
Now the air I tasted and breathed has taken a turn

Ooh, and all I taught her was everything
Ooh, I know she gave me all that she wore

And now my bitter hands chafe beneath the clouds of what was everything.
Oh, the pictures have all been washed in black, tattooed everything...

I take a walk outside, I’m surrounded by some kids at play
I can feel their laughter, so why do I sear?
Oh, and twisted thoughts that spin round my head, I’m spinning, oh,
I’m spinning, how quick the sun can drop away

And now my bitter hands cradle broken glass of what was everything
All the pictures have all been washed in black, tattooed everything...

All the love gone bad turned my world to black
Tattooed all I see, all that I am, all I’ll be... yeah...

Uh huh... uh huh... ooh...

I know someday you’ll have a beautiful life,
I know you’ll be a star in somebody else’s sky,
But why, why, why can’t it be, can’t it be mine?

Aah... uuh..

Too doo doo too, too doo doo [many times until fade]
