There’s a term, autogynephilia, referring to men who are aroused by the idea of themselves as women, cross-dressers who want to go the full distance. It’s a term in very bad repute in liberal circles, but I do think it applies to many transsexuals.

Anyway, if some transsexualilty is simply an extreme fetish, rather than an innate identity, and the transsexual is neutered, wouldn’t the sexual arousal and desire to be a woman fade drastically?

Auto-gyne-philia From the Greek, auto=self, gyne=woman, philia=the love of. so..autogynephilia means "I love myself as a woman"

The vast majority of autogynephiles are biological women. The term is not gender-specific but applies to both genders.

Autogynephilia is generally thought of as an erotic arousal brought about by the thought of manifesting feminine appearances and traits in a social setting. Many women fit this description and so do a few men.

A transgender female who is aroused by the idea of manifesting feminine appearances and traits in a social setting is very closely related to biological females with the same erotic desire or fetish.

In regard to your question of whether the loss of testosterone results in a lowering of erotic desires and fetishes.. yes, definitely it does. The same mechanism is at work in biological females as well... they have a lower level of T than males and thus generally a lower sex drive and lower prevalence of sexual fetishism of all types.

In males there is a way to totally remove testosterone's ability to drive sexual desire and fetishes. There is a state that all males are well acquainted with that lasts for a short time during which all sexual desires of any sort are reduced to near zero. This is triggered immediately after sexual climax and is a biological safety mechanism that all mammals have. If not for this mechanism harm would result from endlessly chasing a sexual high.

In some males the libido shutdown after climax is so powerful that they nearly collapse. Women know all about this libido shutdown but if they do not understand the biology behind it they may think their mate is just a selfish lazy bum in the sack ;-) This is the reason why in lovemaking ladies definitely should come first.

I would hazard a guess that if a MTF transsexual loses the desire to transition during the short post climax libido shutdown that they should carefully weigh transitioning... it would seem to be largely a fetish in such a case...IMO. If they did transition they would find that after the loss of testosterone they might not be so interested in being female. Perhaps this is why some transitioned MTFs use testosterone patches? perhaps it's to experience the old fetish for short periods of time.

A few years ago there was an ill-conceived plan to sanction the use of testosterone patches for women to drastically boost libido for short periods of time. I'm glad they thought better of it.
