Clinton praises Warren as ‘progressive champion'
The Hill ^ | April 15, 2015 | Ben Kamisar

Posted on 04/16/2015 8:16:40 AM PDT by Cincinatus' Wife

Hillary Clinton lauds Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) as a “progressive champion” in a Time magazine tribute written amidst calls from the left that Clinton should use the freshman senator as a model in her presidential bid.

Praising Warren’s “unflagging determination to level the playing field for hardworking American families” and her goal of helping others “Share in the American Dream,” Clinton compared the senator to the “liberal lion,” former Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-Mass).

“It was always going to take a special kind of leader to pick up Ted Kennedy’s mantle as senior Senator from Massachusetts—champion of working families and scourge of special interests,” Clinton wrote in Warren’s entry for Time’s 100 Most Influential People.

“Elizabeth Warren never lets us forget that the work of taming Wall Street’s irresponsible risk taking and reforming our financial system is far from finished.”

Clinton also may have made the veiled message to the criticism she’s received from the “Warren wing” of the party that is calling for a more progressive challenge to Clinton in the primary.

“She never hesitates to hold powerful people’s feet to the fire: bankers, lobbyists, senior government officials and, yes, even presidential aspirants.”

During her presidential rollout in Iowa, Clinton has already teased a number of policy platforms that progressives have praised. She’s called for the Supreme Court to rule in favor of a national right to gay marriage, criticized the discrepancy in CEO and worker pay, and floated the idea of a constitutional amendment for campaign finance reform.

I guess the byword for Democrat's this campaign is that they are "champions" for the little people.

“Share in the American Dream”

It is not a dream when you steal from 52% of American to fund the dream of the loafers.

Did the Clintons negotiate a “stand-off” agreement with the Chicago Mob for 2016? That’s what it looks like to me.

Is Lizzy a drunken sod who accosts women then drives them into the drink?

Coincidence?

Buried at the end of a very long article about the mailman that landed near the U.S. Capital is this - just before the full text of his letter - which calls for a Constitutional Amendment to limit campaign money [sounds like he should be honored in the Rose Garden by Obama or be invited to sit next to Michelle at the next State of the Union address:

FAA investigating Florida mailman's landing of gyrocopter on U.S. Capitol lawn "...............At the root of Hughes' disdain is the Supreme Court's 2010 decision in Citizens United vs. Federal Election Commission, in which the court decided campaign contributions were a form of "political speech" and struck down limits on how much corporations and unions could give to political contenders. The decision changed the game. Campaign spending went through the roof. In Hughes' mind, there was a parallel spike in favor-dealing and the government is now practically owned by the rich. Hughes likes to point out that nearly half the retiring members of Congress from 1998 to 2004 got jobs as lobbyists earning some 14 times their congressional salaries.

But nobody seems to care.

Hughes thinks the answers are out there, and they're nonpartisan. He points to reform thinkers like political activist Cenk Uygar and Harvard legal theorist Lawrence Lessig, who launched a political action committee to end political action committees. The motto: "Embrace the irony."..........................

.....Sincerely,

Douglas M. Hughes

I find it extremely interesting that Mr. Hughes chose to do this after Hillary launched her 2016 presidential campaign and near the end of Obama's 2 terms.

The fact is Elizabeth Warren is bought and paid for by Wall St interests and that would immediately come out if she were to run. Hillary would make sure of it.

No way Team Obama is going to relinquish control of the Democratic Party to the Clintons, and the money and power that goes with it. There is no way Hillary is going to get the nomination. Way too much at stake for a sharing of the Democratic table.

It’s getting late.
Baraq started in Feb 2007.
Money wins elections.

Perhaps they cut a deal to put a Chicago Mob VP on the ticket (black or hispanic) and Hillary retires after 4.

If Hillary can bring the Democratic coalition together, and keep them together through Nov 2016, she will be tough to beat. Women, LGBT, black, Hispanic, union and white liberals will be hard to overcome, particularly if we are still sniping at each other.

What’s with this word “champion” suddenly so prominent in our political lexicon????

Is that a word approved and certified by a focus group?? Is this word now on all of the liberal talking points being handed out by the Journ-o-list people????

You may be right but the animosity between the Clintons and Obamas is there. Of course we know there is truth in the statement that politics makes strange bedfellows and certainly a deal could have been made too.

Champion usually signifies that you have “ accomplished something” in a
competition.

Hillary hasn’t shown any accomplishments, but the uniformed will think
she has since she is talking about their “ gimmies”

I am hoping for Palin/Cruz

All of their poll internals must be showing that Fake Indian Populism is the winning formula for 2016.

Which I have long suspected to be the case.

Didn’t they have a private sit-down, at Hil’s D.C home ,a few months back? Would have loved to hear that conversation. I’m sure Warren was told in no uncertain terms to back off or else.
