Example: State Farm commercials
Two ladies, one white, the other asian come up to a pair of shoes, but the white lady has a cool black insurance agent how gives her enough of a refund to buy herself another bag (since the one she currently had was suddenly obsolete).
The asian lady asks for a refund, but her "old white guy" teases her with a dollar bill dangling from a fishing pole.
The other State Farm commercials are the same, white guy wrecks into cool black guy who has a nice insurance agent.
To some extent, “cool” is what the media/entertainment complex says it is. Cigarette smoking and disco music used to be way cool.
“Just about every television commercial reflects this narrative.”
Don’t even get me started on TV ads, which all are becoming racist. With about 12% of the population black, why are more than half of the models and actors black? And it goes without saying the if a black and white are in the same picture, the black is best and smartest.
Now there’s the new ADT ad where a tough black man is the “cool”, competent ADT protector, and the two robbers he’s scaring away are white. Oh, yeah... that’s reality.
Liberty Insurance commercials. Those horrendous K-Mart ads before Christmas with everyone shucking and jiving, the leaders being black soon-to-be-hoodlum kids.
I have no problem with actual equality; I have a problem with this.
