Conservative firebrand Ted Cruz is used to having plenty of opponents cheer for his demise, and it turns out that he got some practice for that role back when he was a high school drama geek.
The Texas senator and presidential aspirant says that he relished playing the villain in his teenage theater productions, which he enjoyed so much that he toyed with dropping out of school to try his luck in Hollywood.
"It's one thing to play the good guy in drama," he told CNBC's John Harwood in an interview. "It's a fun thing also to play the bad guy."
Cruz recounted his fond memories of playing Bill Sikes, the villain in the musical "Oliver!"(continued)

lol...nbc makes a whole story with a negative slant about Cruz being in high school plays? Wow...Cruz must be remarkably scandal free.

One of the curses of being a liberal is living a lifetime of believing you can create reality with language.
Another is the compulsion to apply public school caliber thinking, which inevitably leads you to believe you’ve found a meaningful connection between two entirely unrelated things.
He smoked dope and it shows.
I won the role of being the mean, sea-hag in a local theater group and loved it - until I realized I was so convincing that the kids were scared to even approach me for an autograph after the play. Guess I was a little too convincing? It was fun though.
It might give them pause to think that deep inside he is a little bit like them - they may become conflicted....
To this day we don't know anything about the current Resident.
Wow. Ted Cruz and I have something else in common we both played Bill Sykes in Oliver when we were in High School. Kewl.
