Correct but I don’t think what’s on TV is the reason. I believe the primary reason is that the public sees the corruption which evermore is in our faces and many have simply thrown up their hands, feeling they are unable to fight BIG money, BIG corruption and the lies and blatant omission that pass for news. Watching TV is just a symptom.
A leader will come to try to save us from this and he will be excoriated. Ted Cruz seems to be fulfilling that scenario at present.

I like a good conspiracy theory as much as anybody but if he believes that the Democrats were trying to change the constitution to enable Obama to be president he does need that straight jacket.
The Democrats were trying to change the Natural Born Citizen requirement for a much more basic ideological reason. They don’t believe that the United States is special and unique. The Natural Born Citizen suggest that being born an American imparts a special quality on a person.
The Progressives believe that all people are the same. All cultures are equal. All people have same motives. All people have the same faults. No one is better than anyone else.
Therefore anyone should be eligible to be president of the United States.
The same ideological reasoning applies to immigration. All people are the same so anyone should be able to come to the US and be a citizen.
