“It is said” isn’t exactly proof, or even evidence. Doesn’t even claim that a person, even an anonymous one, said it.

As the author of this piece notes, there has been to date zero evidence presented that the guy converted.

I’m perfectly willing to admit he may have. Why are so many so anxious to claim speculation is evidence?

Like the frequently used "some say". If you put the writers on truth serum they'd admit it means "I say".
