Ted Cruz’s critics just don’t get it

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz officially kicked off the 2016 election cycle Monday by being the first candidate of either party to formally declare for the presidency. As expected, the Republican senator’s fiercest critics did everything they could to embarrass themselves and make him look great by comparison. Optics matter, and the critics remain blind.

Sen. Cruz’s harshest critics describe him as crazy and unhinged, a wild-eyed wacko. The same liberals attacking him are the ones who believe that Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren is a sane, lucid rational individual. A few moments on You-Tube will show that it is the progressive darling Warren who screams at the top of her lungs while Cruz speaks in a rational voice.

Cruz has Republican critics as well. Those Republicans are the first ones to cave in to Democrats and allow a lawless presidency to steamroll over them.

There is nothing wrong with offering criticism, but at some point it has to be substantive and legitimate. Cruz’s critics just don’t get it. They are the extreme. Cruz is the mainstream.

The heart of the Cruz campaign is a promise to adhere strictly to United States Constitution. What about this is so hard for others to understand? The Constitution places severe restrictions on what the federal government is allowed to do. Over the last several years, executive overreach has rendered Congress an all-but-irrelevant rubber stamp for whatever the president wants. With an out-of-control chief executive running wild, Cruz is one of the few lawmakers determined to rein him in.

Cruz wants to tear down the boa constrictor regulatory state that is choking the life out of American businesses. He announced his White House run on the fifth anniversary of the Affordable Care Act that is not affordable and does not care who gets hurt by it.

Cruz is attacked for being religious, a familiar leftist attack on people of faith that amounts to anti-Christian bigotry. Secular progressives say they want to keep religion out of their lives, but it is the secularists forcing their world view on people of faith. Cruz is a devout evangelical Christian who will not yield his beliefs just because others want to replace the deity in the sky with father government.

Cruz is fighting for the Little Sisters of the Poor. The current government is harassing them. Again, which action is mainstream and what position is extreme?

Cruz understands that the right to own a gun, smoke a cigarette, eat a hamburger or drink a large soda is a right that the government should leave well alone.

After several years of absolute hostility toward Israel, Cruz wants to repair the relationship with one of America’s closest allies. He would also restore relations with Poland and other nations that have been kicked in the teeth by a president determined to appease aggressors in Russia and Iran.

The best reason to give Ted Cruz a serious look is to see who is criticizing him. Domestically and globally, the last few years have been a colossal failure. Cruz’s congressional critics are the ones who have created that failure. Cruz’s civilian critics are the ones who voted for the politicians who created that failure.

If people are satisfied with radical Islam ascending unchecked, Ted Cruz is not the answer. If people are happy with losing their jobs to the point where they have given up, Ted Cruz is not a good presidential candidate. If people are content with being forced to buy expensive, lower-quality healthcare plans that they cannot afford because they are unemployed, Ted Cruz is wrong for them. If people believe total and complete failure is acceptable, then Ted Cruz is unacceptable.

For those who are disgusted with what politicians have done to the nation they love, Ted Cruz is a serious candidate to fix problems.

Ted Cruz is not crazy or insane. Insanity is repeatedly failing at everything in the same way while expecting a differing result. What is crazy is demonizing a man for realizing that nothing is working and clearly understand why that is the case.

The leftist progressive vision has been a disaster. Republicans who enabled that vision by refusing to stand up and fight it are just as culpable. The next American leader has to be somebody who is not complicit in emboldening America’s enemies, attacking her friends and hastening her decline.

Ted Cruz’s critics just don’t get it. They cannot fix the problem because they caused the problem. They are the problem. Ted Cruz is offering solutions. His critics failed to lead. They are too egotistical to follow. The only thing left for them to do is get out of the way.

What difference does it make?

Cruz called out the Republican Elite Party's ruse to vote FOR Democrat filibusters when it mattered, then AGAINST the bill it when it didn't. That's what it's all about. That's when I knew I was for Cruz.

For those who believe dependency on government as existence rather than independence of government as fulfillment, are not for Senator Ted Cruz.

Yes, and McConnell and his gang hate him for it.

Cruz also called out Boehner on the DHS-Executive Funding. Boehner could have attached the Executive Amnesty funding to an EPA funding bill for February 2015 but instead attached it to something he knew would fail to be defunded.

The political game players in DC are smart but not as smart as Cruz.
