I wish people would stop constantly bandying this as the reason for all ills. Shooting - Moslem. Explosion (most likely) - Moslem. Plane crash - Moslem.

It’s absolutely loony-looking. Leftists will LOVE the unhinged conspiracy theorizing.

Moslems aren’t stupid - they pick great targets, and great means, big splashy showy events - and they take responsibility, even when it is not their particular group. I’m not following this strongly but where are the claims of responsibility?

An average European liner into a mountain in secrecy - yawn. Not Islam. The only way it would be is if the crew/passengers caused problems for the Moslems. And even then there was no show - no “we have a plane” or “Allahu akhbar!” They LOVE showing how they have control.

A funny thing about accident investigations. They always want to interview eye witnesses, but not for what people think. Eye witnesses invariably say they saw fire, or heard funny noises. Investigators usually ignore the common perceptions that eye witnesses rely on like that. Instead, they ask questions.

This is so odd. Even if the pilots were instantly killed, what about the passengers? Would the oxygen masks have dropped? The plane didn’t crash immediately, and certainly if the passengers were conscious, wouldn’t they have heard that noise? No cell phone calls and a slow descent. This thing is so strange.

And when someone programs the computer for a controlled full power descent into terrain, all the while assuring the pilots it's on a straight level course, the pilots are apt to believe they are on a straight level course well over terrain, and not being alarmed, will do and report nothing.

Because they received cell calls from family informing them about the other 2 planes going into the WTC in New York, the (some) passengers made a brave decision that their plane was not going to crash into anything significant.

And the US Government's first response was to ban cell phones on flights. Why?

While I agree, but if the decompression happened really fast, the crew would have 15-20 seconds to react before losing consciousness, especially if both crew members were not wearing oxygen masks at the time the rapid decompression started. As such, I'm still sticking to the theory things happened so fast that while the crew was able to start an emergency descent sequence, they passed out with the plane only partly tilted down for an emergency descent. This may explain why the plane made what appears to be a "normal" descent straight into the ground in a controlled flight into terrain crash.

We should find out more once both the cockpit voice recorder and flight data recorder data are fully recovered and analyzed.

Putting on O2 masks immediately is so second-nature that is likely not it. We do it all the time, in normal operations, and for a rapid decompression it is the first thing, every time. It takes 2 seconds with modern inflating masks.

You do not start the descent first, you put on O2 first. Always.

Auto flight systems are hardened, and inaccessible. They are made to survive electromagnetic shock, and are not part of a network. Not hackable. Period.

Now they are saying it was an 18 minute descent. My BIL and SIL and their 3 kids are flying from Frankfurt to Barcelona on the 31st on Luftansa. I hope they get this think figured out fast.

There's no provision for maintenance and repair?

Granted, that would require a whole 'nother level of attack, not an outsider hacking in, but sabotage from within.

But I would argue that the religion of al taqiyya is quite capable of placing an agent anywhere.
