I can think for myself and can clearly define what a conservative is or is not...been one for 35 years...
Watch what they do, not what they say...
Look at their positions on amnesy.
Ted Cruz is going to have the exact same problems any other potential GOP nominee concerning illegal immigration...except Bush...who seems to want to just toss open the gates..
Is Cruz going to deport the XXX million illegals already here? No...he can't...
He is going to deny benefits to illegals already here getting benefits ? ...No... he isn't...Congress job...they will never do that in any serious fashion ...
Is Cruz going to have to find a way to get the many thousands of so called "dreamers" mainlined into citizenship...Of course he is...many of these people were brought here as children already living in this country...He's going to throw out a 21 year old illegal who has been here for 18 years, works, pay taxes, ... of course not...
Cruz and other can do many things like upholding the current laws, e-verfiy, serious fines or prison time for employers who hire illegals, actually tap down on fraud in social welfare programs ...
Amnesty is in many ways a red herring ...meat for the conservatives...it's actually a very complex issue which as much as I dislike the idea will take bipartisan effort to solve...
It's really a moot point until a actual real fence is put up...which might happen in the next millenium...
