Bryson went in for a five or six hour, open heart surgery in Childrens,Pittsburgh at 6 am
6:45 PM ... just got home from the hospital
Bryson doing great !
Thank you ALL for your prayers !
The day started a little weird ... they didn't have his blood type on hand and didn't want to start until it was available ( O- )
They got a supply in and started around 9:30 and he came out of surgery around 2 or 3 (not of the exact time)
Doctor told Donny and Courtney "The little guy's a trooper" ... strong on all signs
We got to see him (and if they can sneak a photo out .. I'll post it) and the image is right out of a sci fi flick
....
This little baby, fast asleep in a semi-rasised position in the center of a room, with about 20 tubes and wires coming from off his body ... connected to a verntilator and pacemaker and a bunch of other things ... all lit up ... he looked like he was sleeping on the console of the enterprise ... or the latest catch for Area 51 ... honest ! ... It is surreal !
The operation was;
They made a two chambered heart into a four chambered one using some kind of membrane ... they repaired the holes (unclear what or how many ... but they repaired them) ... they took one valve and made two out of it by cutting it in half (I used those words after the dr told me what they did and he said "yeah ... that's about it") ...
In the next day or two they will start bringing him out ...
He's heavily sedated and his entire musclular system is numbed ... the machine is breathing and the machine is beating his heart
They'll start with stopping the sedation and monitor his response, then the ventilator, and monitor .. then the pacemaker .. and monitor ... if Bryson reacts well to all these disconnects, he will stay for about three weeks ... about a week or two in NCIU then a private room ... and then come home
Donny goes to work tomorrow and back to the hospital then home to change and back to work etc., etc.
Courtney is there until he comes home
AGAIN ... thank you ALL for your prayers ... THIS WAS THE BIGGIE
Thanks for the update. Continued prayers for Bryson.
Thank you for the update. Prayers for you all!
So glad to hear the good news.
He sounds like a tough little man.
God bless him...and all of you.

Continued prayers for the little guy.
Prayers sent for little Bryson, knarf! Doesn’t your heart goes out to little ones like him when they are so small and helpless? And when it’s your grandbaby, you feel it even more. You love them so much it hurts. God bless him, and his loving parents and grandparents.
Prayers up for Bryson and family.
I guess today was infant under 6 mo surgery day
The scene I describe about Bryson is just one of the two or three rooms I passed before we got to him.
The nurses and doctors are VERY special people
Great news! God bless.
While waiting to go back to see him, I struck up a conversation with a grandmother type and learned ... she was there for HER 5 mo old grandson, ALSO for open heart
HE (Samuel) had valve repair at ten weeks and it wasn't doing well, so today was an artificial valve implant ... at 5 months !
We prayed together for her grandson and mine ... it is a special day, today
Also our 5th wedding anniversary
Happy anniversary knarf!
Oh, poor little guy! I hope this second surgery solves the problem!
Hugs for the brave little guy.
Prayers going up...Happy Anniversary... He’s in the best place!!!!
PRAYERS and a cyber hug for Bryson (and your family).
So glad to learn the surgery went well—will remember the little guy in prayers as he recovers (and his fellow little patient Samuel).
Update when you can...and know he is in one of the best hospitals in the world for little ones.
G-d bless!
Prayers up for a complete recovery! (and for you all, too).
/johnny
In prayers.
