Yes, they did. For sure. Obama is an evil, corrupt, Socialist muslim who hates America. But for all his faults - he is not as big a crook as the Clintons are. And plenty of dem (and repub) insiders know where the Clinton skeletons are buried. And they will drop the dime on Billary in a heartbeat.
So for now they must play nicely.
Oh they have the dirt. They tried to feed it to their press lackies in 08 but the press turned on them. Remember Bill saying there were plenty of questions that need to be asked if someone really wanted to investigate?they didn’t want to put it out for free of a racism charge backlash.

I think the Obama faction would rather see the Repubs win the Presidency, than let the Clintons get it (and thus get a lot of control over the Dem party apparatus).
I think Obama would rather take a long view and consolidate control over all aspects of the Dem machine.

This is all speculation obviously ...
I don’t know if she would have gone full nuclear ... I think Hillary was convinced that she would pull ahead on Super Tuesday of 2008. There was no reason to destroy him prior to that date. I also suspect Obama was her #1 choice for VP to rally far left and minority support (oxymoron) and put to rest a grueling primary campaign. Obama would have been groomed to be the heir apparent after Hillary’s reign ... he’d view the VP slot as a promotion + it would have smashed the “executive experience” argument to pieces for his run in either 2008 or 2016.
That was before Super Tuesday.
When it became clear that Obama was going to win after the (admittedly brilliant) caucus strategy, I think the DNC told Hillary to chill out “or else”. I’m quite sure she would have destroyed him right after that win as she still had a great shot at snagging enough delegates. However, I think the Dems saw the writing on the wall with her and figured Obama was the easier candidate to market Gruber style. Plus they also saw really long coattails with Obama at the top of the ticket.
Basically, if Hillary went nuclear on Obama after Super Tuesday, the Dems would have an even more flawed candidate running for POTUS (again, she polls well until she opens her mouth) as well as a trashed “rising star” in a party that doesn’t have much in the way of Presidential candidates. Moreover, turnout would have been down for the Dems in 2008 as 1/2 the party would have hated her for what she would have done to Obama.
While I think she would have won a squeaker in 2008 given what transpired (banking crisis, McCain’s weak candidacy, and general hatred of Republicans), I don’t think there would have been the coattails that gave the Dems the near super majority in the Senate.
If she has anything, it’s going to come out now I suspect. If the powers that be are going to blow her shot at the Presidency and convince Warren to run, she’ll do whatever it takes for that last ditch effort to grab that position she, in her sick mind, is entitled to occupy for putting up with Bill all of these years.
Finally, if Warren runs, I don’t think she has a prayer of winning so long as the Republicans don’t run someone named Bush, Christie, or some other retread RINO. She has the same charisma as Hillary and a trite, boring message that sounds too much like Obama’s. Minorities are not going to turn out for her like they did Obama. Also, if Republicans run someone with Conservative credentials, they’ll drastically improve turnout while maintaining the independent numbers they saw in 2012.

They need a lot of time to get Warren (or some other unknown) out there in the public eye. They want one and only one candidate in the primaries since they’ll need billions (literally $2B) to have even a chance. They know Hillary is flawed.
Obama wants a Dem to follow him for POTUS just to be like Reagan. It’s all about the narcissism when it comes to our dear leader. If he leaves behind a Republican House, Senate, and Presidency, he knows EXACTLY what historians will write about him years from now :-). That doesn’t sit well with tyrants.
Would guess in a national election she would get the vast majority of the votes that O got.
Add to that, the effect of the non-votes by folks who believe a) the Republican party has sold out and b) one should not vote for "the lesser of two evils".

I think Emailgate is just Zero's shot across Hillary's bow. It's a warning to back off - forget about running, and let sleeping dogs lie for both camps.
Team Clinton knows that the feds can make this stick if they want to, but my guess is, the Clintons will be allowed to skirt the law this one last time if they comply.

Interesting. A lot of Democrats think Bill Clinton sold out after he lost control of Congress and started triangulating. Obama is apparently one of them, and he's been trying to be the "anti-Clinton," since the midterms (or since he got into office).
But is Hillary more like Bill or more like Barack? Would she triangulate and try to work with Congress or would she just start making and disregarding laws on her own? I don't know. How much is she her own (strident and ideological) woman and how much is she part of corporate Team Clinton?
One thing about politics, though: there are a lot of love-hate or like-dislike relationships. Democrats who were disappointed with Bill Clinton still defend him passionately against Republicans. And some Democrats who agree with Obama about many things and back him up every time, still don't love or like the guy.
Sort of like with Republicans and whoever the GOP manages to nominate. So even if Obama personally hates Hillary, most of the party will get behind whoever gets nominated.
If Hillary fails as a contender, the challenge will come from Warren, OMally, and......Al Gore.
The PTB have already signaled Hillary to step down, with this Emailgate revelation in the NY Times. There's no way that rag would ever roll over on a Clinton, unless they'd been given marching orders from the current regime.
If Hillary wants to play chicken with this mob, they'll go her one better and unleash the hounds to prosecute her for breaking the laws regarding retention of sensitive government communications.
And if they do that, perhaps Team Clinton will begin leaking even more devastating information about Obama. Could get deadly interesting.
One could not find a more hate filled, shrieking, phony than Warren. But the low info voter is just stupid enough to elect someone like that.
