What is funny is that trig and geometry could be said to be more visual than most hard math courses. I recall being a whiz at solving geometry problems because I could visualize the theorem progression to get the proof needed by just looking at the problem. There was no actual "math" as in calculus or linear algebra.

I can see problems with calculus, though I had none. It does require memorizing relationships and procedures. You have to work your way through, you cannot see the whole path in many complicated problems, at least I could not.

Funny, trigonometry is probably the most used math for me these days beyond arithmetic and bursts of algebra.

The best training I had in Trig and Geometry was when I went to work in a steel fabrication layout shop. Real world use of both!

Calculus is short hand algebra. Differential Equations is a mindblower :)
