Well .. GOD created the heavens and the earth .. so I’d go for logic instead of pie in the sky prognostications. That way .. it would only be logical that if the sun is closer to the earth, then we should be having warmer weather. And .. therefore, if the sun is farther away from the earth .. logically it should mean that our weather would be cooler.

In the southern hemisphere, it is currently summer. Sydney, Australia has a forecast of 82 for tomorrow.

Whether we have winter or summer has more to do with whether we are on the side of the Earth inclined toward or against the Sun, than with our distance. The Earth's orbit is close to circular. See here.
