The school lunches that shame America: Photos reveal just how meager US students' meals are compared
Daily Mail UK via Conservative Tribune Blog via Joe for America Blog ^ | 18 February 2015 | | By Anucyia Victor for MailOnline

Pictures have been released comparing what Michelle forces American schools to eat and what kids in other countries get to eat…

Since the program’s inception, Michelle Obama’s Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act has offended the sensibilities of the entire nation.

Conservatives found the program to be invasive, thrusting D.C.’s hand into local education matters. Educators found the program wasted enormous amounts of food and money. Parents found the lunches far too light to be considered “meals.”

And school children everywhere took to the Internet with pictures of the gruesome dishes the program sloshed onto their cafeteria trays every day.

Those pictures did massive amounts of damage to Michelle’s pet program, but now an even worse PR disaster rears its head. This week the U.K. Daily Mail ran pictures of what other countries feed their school children. The comparison is stark … and humiliating for the United States.

The “meal” above featuring an orange slice, a puddle of either apple sauce or a pulverized slice of peach or pear, and what looks like lumpy chipped beef without the toast is one of the dishes that complies with Michelle’s totalitarian program.

Compare this insult to parents, palettes and taxpayers alike with what other nations feed their school children. The contrast below is striking to say the least.

When I first read about this thing, it didn’t sound like any more than a plan to starve all the bigger kids and athletes, but it looks like it’s been expanded to cover everybody...

Me, too. Just quickly it appears there are only two types of plates in other countries.

That being said, I’m sure lunch is really lousy in America.

Friend of mine works at one, the kids try not to take the stuff be she has been told they have to, even if they throw it away immediately, and most of them do.

If these photos are an accurate representation of school lunches, then I would take the Italian or French meal.

And we spend more?

That's the fedgov way -- pay more; get less. It applies to just about everything the government touches.

“”Why are all the trays the same?””

They aren’t...some are round, some are different color, some are metal - those that appear the same are no doubt from the same distributer of dishes to school districts..

“”the photos of ALL the other countries’ lunches are all on the same kind of plate””

No, they aren’t.......look again...there are different colors/materials/sizes. The uniform one is no doubt from a distributor of dishes for school districts.

Of Course the Meals look like that.

Every time the Federal Government gets involved in ANYTHING it turns to Sh!t!

LOCAL Government is the answer. Your city council member piss you off?

Next Election, GONE!

No Worrying about how California Votes or Chicago.

Just you and neighbors. We MUST regain control of these institutions.

Hubby did his 20 from the 60-80’s. He was on the USS Midway when they pulled the AMB out of Nam and off the coast of Cuba for the Missile Crisis. Went in as a E1 came out as a SCPO, would have been MCPO if not for a car wreck during Evals. Spent over a month in the hospital.

I bet my dad who was a WW 2 grunt who ended up a T5 would not have eaten the crap. And they had worse food than they did in the 60’s. Dad served under MacArthur, 5 major battles including Corregidor “The ROCK”. He was Airborne 503rd.

Glad to hear your Dad got off Corregidor and wasn’t taken prisoner. My Dad was in China-India-Burma Theater of War. He had to eat monkey meat a couple of times when the Japs were chasing them.

Yes, the food on that tray is nasty looking.

Hospital food is too.

By the time Dad had hit Corrigidor he had 6 yrs in and was discharged. He and a PFC climbed a telegraph pole and put our Flag back up under sniper fire. Both got Bronze Stars. the first Flag up went to Mac. Then another was put up. 2 weeks later they had a ‘official’ ceremony where the Flag was put on a standard flag pole. There are books with photos of the first Flag raising. Some controversy where it is today.

My BIL served under Merrill from the start clear to Myitkyina air base battle. He came home with a real bad case of PSTD and was a down right a mean drunk.

God bless your Dad and the others.

Sorry about your BIL. Those men went through hell during the war and some after the war.

My Dad had a good friend who was in the Bataan Death March. The Japs cut off three of his fingers when he was in a work camp. He became a Post Master in a small town and was outwardly quiet and calm as a church mouse for the rest of his life.
