Zunera Ishaq, a devout Muslim immigrant from Pakistan, insists that she should be able to take the oath of citizenship while wearing her niqab
In these days of identity politics and hyphenated nationalities its easy to forget the simple slogan a Canadian beer company has been using for the better part of two decades: I am Canadian!
And while Im not much into beer, Im totally into the slogan because Im a naturalized citizen and now consider myself very much a Canadian and have wholeheartedly adopted Canadian values. Moreover, Im sure I have contributed to Canadian values to some small degree over the years because these values are based on freedom fairness, acceptance, diversity, social responsibility and most importantly, laws. All of these are values with which I am very much in accord and seek to preserve.
As a Canadian, I personally do not care what people wear, albeit I cant deny raising an eyebrow every now and then when I see people at the mall in their pajamas or I encounter a human form swathed completely in black with only a small slit for the eyes. This seems especially odd on a hot summers day, but hey, people are entitled to dress however they wish.

"The sketch was conceived when SCTV moved to the CBC television network. Due to the difference in the amount of time allocated for commercials, each episode to be broadcast on that network was two minutes longer than those syndicated to the United States. The CBC network heads asked the show's producers to add specifically identifiably Canadian content for those two minutes. Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas thought that this was a ridiculous request, since the show had been taped in Canada, with a mostly Canadian cast and crew, for two years. The request inspired them to create a parody that would incorporate every aspect of the humorous stereotype of Canadians."

Canada Ping!
If she’s “totally accepted Canadian values,” then why does she insist on wearing a tablecloth?

"I Kill You!"
"What is this all aboot?"
When Muslims are in the minority, they play all nice, but once they increase in numbers, everything changes.
Prove it. Have a beer and a fistful of back bacon...
Now they say
“It is Harper and Bush’s fault”
but a new dawn is coming.
Canadians will continue to rightfully blame Imperialism, Bush, Harper, Monarchies, the Church, and themselves as they learn to accept terrorist events as a fact of life (as they should,) ponder the whys and wherefores of job losses, business failures, and higher and higher taxes as their unwanted (for who wants them?) Jews flee for safety; Canadians will learn to despise the Church and love Islam, (for Islam is the answer,) more and more Canadians will be named Mohammed until it is also the number one name there, as it is in the UK, for it is the name of The Prophet, and it is a Good Name; Canada’s social welfare programs will continue to explode, as they should, as is Just, as a new - and yet another new generation of worthy, needy individuals has 6-8 children (Praise Allah!) Canadian Visa officers named Soraya and Achmed and Mohammed - a new generation of righteous individuals committed to social justice - will stamp in more and more immigrants named Soraya and Achmed and Mohammed, and will make life more difficult for those old bastards the Jews; the terror incidents will increase, in the name of justice and protest agaist the Jews and their agents
Their agents the bankers, the butchers, the engineers, the trains, the planes, the bridges, the buildings...
and Canadians will be grateful and happy to be a positive part of a tolerant, accepting monoculture.
Life will be better,
Because Canadians have always been better,
and if, at times, it isn’t better,
it will be
Bush and Harper’s fault again.
If one does not reveal one’s identity to the community of Canada at a citizenship court, then one has no respect for Canada or its community, and does not deserve citizenship conferred upon them.
Well, I hope you feel better now. But just what, exactly, was that little rant all about?
