Except there wouldn't be any. Remember the Soviet Union?
Communists believe they can get it right the next time.
I could write a book on this topicOh please do, Mr. Adams. Although I think someone named Huxley might have taken your idea for a title, never mind someone called Shakespeare before that.
Experiments in communism have all been proven to be failures. I have no problem with alternative energy used on an individual basis. I do have a problem with government subsides for alternative energy. I don’t have a problem with green houses used on an individual basis or by a business. I do have a problem with this bunk of Internet sharing of food. The pilgrims tried that experiment long ago and failed (a little bit before the time of the Internet). It doesn’t need to be tried again in America.
The nugget who wrote this “assumes” and “imagines” a lot that goes against reality, rationality and sanity.
Yes, “Brave New World” is an example of the Marxist/socialist/communist world view of an ideal, perfect world; of course none will ever exist, only in the minds of the unicorn and rainbow people.
Scott has made a lot of money by pointing out the faults in the business world. Evidently, he has no concept of human behavior beyond that. People are always going to want more and better. If they can’t have that fairly, they’ll go after it unfairly. Maybe he should put Dilbert in a government office.
The second sentence of the last paragraph sums up his philosophy:
It is based on force, either way.
I’ll grow whatever this guy’s bull eats, because from the amount of “output” it’s clearly got a big appetite!
I used to enjoy Dilbert, and I watched an interview with him one time, and was downright horrified.
He is a uber Leftist, a Marxist, a total a-hole. I was shocked, I had no idea.
From that day on, I simply could not enjoy his work.
This is interesting.
In his books I’ve read I felt he was a libertarian.
Here he advocates statism.
Oboy, lots of great ideas made law and we’ll figure out how they work later. Sounds kinda familiar...
Imagine there’s no countries....this is simply another utopian vision. He leaves out one very important factor: These perfect cities are inhabited by imperfect humans beings. Greed, power, control...all of these emotions will quickly leap to the surface and this utopia will become a prison.
I thought this was the stupidest thing I have read in forever. But it fits what I know of Scott Adams to a “T”.
Communist Utopia again? Geez! Will they not ever give up?
I think that this guy is already living on his ‘communal farm’ and I know what he is growing! It doesn’t taste good to eat it raw but it tastes pretty good in brownies!
For example the Net zero home. It is still connected to the electric grid, and has water that is pumped to the home with electricity delivered to the water utility.
While it may have solar, wind or something else that feeds power back into the grid for a “net-zero” electric consumption AVERAGED OVER THE YEAR, will people give up their Internet, computers, TV’s and “smart grid” home gadgets on the cloudy windless days? How about at night?
The problem right now with much renewable energy is that those who are promoting it are Evangelists and ignore lots of free rider costs. The power company that nets no revenue from this house, still has to provide the transformer and wires to the home. Currently (pun intended) the water utility and the non-net zero neighbors pick up the extra cost that the electric utility doesn't get to charge the “net-zero” home.
If the home doesn't have a car and feels it shouldn't pay for roads, who will pick up the cost of the road to their lost that can carry a fire truck, and aid care, or yes even the postman or better yet the Amazon.com delivery service. The road system will still need to get to the home with no car.
This is all a big pipe dream.
They tried that in Russia. Worked well for anyone having a taste for human flesh.
Nope, won’t work.
Well that will cut down on medical expenses. You even get your bullet (or injection) free. If you ask nicely they might play some light classical music for you on your way out before they chop you up for recycling.
