White House defends Prayer Breakfast remarks about the Crusades
The Hill ^ | February 6, 2015 | Jesse Byrnes

The White House on Friday defended President Obama's remarks at the National Prayer Breakfast after he was widely lambasted by conservatives for bringing up acts done in Christianity's name amid a discussion of modern-day terrorist threats.

Americans should hold themselves "up to our own values and our own standards," deputy press secretary Eric Schultz said aboard the president's flight to Indianapolis, where Obama is speaking at a community college, according to the pool report.

Obama believes that "when we fall short of that, we need to be honest with ourselves," Schultz said, noting Obama's "belief in American exceptionalism."

“The president believes that America is the greatest country on earth, not only because of our military or economic prowess or because we serve in a unique leadership role amongst the international community,” he added.

Conservatives widely panned Obama's remarks Thursday at the Washington Hilton, in which he referenced historical events to contextualize violence committed in the name of religion, most recently on the part of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

"Lest we get on our high horse and think this is unique to some other place, remember that during the Crusades and the Inquisition, people committed terrible deeds in the name of Christ," Obama said. "In our home country, slavery and Jim Crow all too often was justified in the name of Christ."

"Mr. President, the Crusades were 800 years ago and the Inquisition 500 years ago. What's happening right now is not Christians on the march, it is radical Islam," columnist Charles Krauthammer said on Fox News on Thursday, calling the remarks "astonishing."

Former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-Pa.), a potential 2016 presidential candidate, also criticized the speech, saying in a statement, "While Christians of today are taught to live their lives as the reflection of Christ's love, the radicals of ISIS use their holy texts as a rationale for violence."

"To insinuate modern Christians — the same Christian faith that led the abolitionist movement, the Civil Rights Movement, and global charitable efforts fighting disease and poverty — cannot stand up against the scourge we see in the Middle East is wrong," Santorum added.

Former Gov. Jim Gilmore (R-Va.) called the remarks "the most offensive I’ve ever heard a president make in my lifetime," the former Republican National Committee chairman added that Obama "has offended every believing Christian in the United States."

Schultz said he had not spoken with the president about reaction to his remarks at the prayer breakfast.

"But I know that there is a failed presidential candidate and an RNC chairman from the past who have criticized us,” Schultz said. “But I don’t have a response to either of those two people.”

Mark Steyn's article from this week, that addressed these remarks and the evil of Islam, was flat out brilliant.

noting Obama's "belief in American exceptionalism.

*******************************************************

“I believe in American exceptionalism, just as I suspect that the Brits believe in British exceptionalism, and the Greeks believe in Greek exceptionalism.”--Barak Obama

In other words he's a citizen of the world who realizes the idea that America is anything special is equivalent to rooting for the home team.

Again, the Crusades were the west’s attempt to turn back the tide of jihad.

Within only a couple of years of Mohammed’s death jihad had crossed formerly Christian north Africa, swept through Spain, and swept into France.

They had taken the Holy Land away from Byzantine Christians and were slaughtering people there.

And by the end of the middle ages they were at the gates of Vienna.

To complain about the Crusades is to complain that your victim fought back.

Sorry, I don't get how what happened in Christendom 1000 years ago is the responsibility of the United States that didn't even exist on a colony basis until the 17th century. I must be a read freaking idiot, since Obama has a better grasp on history than I do.

“”But I don’t have a response to either of those two people.””

So just wing it and make it up, right? Sure, go ahead. You make up everything else anyway.

Has any other president or spokesperson for one of our presidents thought it necessary to proclaim to us that he thinks our country is exceptional? NOPE! Only when that president has already been on record as saying the U. S. is NOT an exceptional country!

DO THEY NOT SEE HOW FOOLISH THEY ARE?

Islam says lying is OK, if it is done for “ The Cause “

ever notice that EVERY TIME Obama opens his mouth to say anything about Christianity or the Church (or the Bible or Judaism or America or Israel), he distorts it badly...
but always to trivialize or ridicule (or drag down into the IslamoNazi gutter of “Islam is superior”)

Not one of his mis-quotes ....not one of his ‘sermons’ about Christianity .... ever makes the Church or Christian faith look good His “mistakes” are consistently to denigrate Biblical faith traditions

if a coin lands on its tail 1,069 times in a row, its not accidental. the coin is a ringer....

Its not enough to focus on the insults Obama dumped on Christians with that debacle yesterday.

Also focus on another slip up. Another time he refers to Islam as "our religion".

"We are summoned to push back against those who would distort our religion for their nihilistic ends."

Americans should hold themselves “up to our own values and our own standards,”

What he means by this is
“if we ever fall short of the values we espouse, then those values are invalid and we can’t hold anyone to that standard”

Obama must have been stoned during his History classes. Islamic followers enslaved more whites during their centuries of wars against Christians then all the Blacks ever enslaved by whites.

THE CRUSADES: A Direct Response To Islam’s Bloodlust

http://clashdaily.com ^ | November 9, 2014 | Audrey Russo
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-religion/3225567/posts

Most of us infidels in the West have been lied to. Trusting the education system, foolishly, we believed all the bunk bundled into our textbooks concerning the period in history (1096 AD -1272 AD) when the Crusades took place…they left out an itty bitty piece of info…This will be great for all your “enlightened” friends…

The real reason WHY the Crusades took place…and here’s the shocker: It was a response to Islam’s aggression!

That’s right…it all began with Muhammed’s implicit threat more than 450 years before the Crusaders entered Jerusalem. He said: “embrace Islam and you will be safe.” (Muhammed’s extortion letter to the Khaibar Jews)

Some facts for your ill-informed friends/family/colleagues:

— The Crusades were a delayed response for CENTURIES of Muslim aggression, that grew ever fiercer in the 11th Century. The Muslims focused on Christians and Jews…forcing conversions, plundering and mortally wounding apostates. —

The Crusades were a DEFENSIVE action, first called for by Pope Urban II in 1095 at the Council of Clermont. — The Crusades were a response against Jihad, which is obligatory against non-Muslims entering “Muslim lands’”. (Muslim lands are any lands invaded and conquered by Islam.) — The motives of the Crusaders were pure. They were jihad-provoked and not imperialistic actions against a “peaceful”, native Muslim population.

The Crusades were NOT for profit, but rather to recover the Holy Land brutally invaded and conquered by Muslims…who conquered for profit and as a notch on their superiority belt. — The lands conquered by the Crusaders were NOT colonized under the Byzantine Empire. The Empire withdrew its support so the Crusaders renounced their agreement.

The Islamic world ripped through the Christian world on a bloody Jihad crusade to propagate Islam. Muslim imperialistic conquest wars were launched for more than 1,500 years against hundreds of nations and over millions of square miles (larger than the British Empire at its peak). The Jihad crusade went from southern France to the Philippines, from Austria to Nigeria, and from central Asia to New Guinea.

The dictionary defines imperialism as “the policy and practice of seeking to dominate the economic and political affairs of weaker countries.” This historical Islamic Jihad WAS imperialistic…and its goals remain the same.
Islam’s greed and lust for bloody domination of non-Muslims and their property CAUSED the Crusades…it doesn’t get simpler than that!

Shalom through strength…

All Obama knows about the Crusades and the Inquisition is what he was taught while in Indonesia by his Islamic professors, a distorted view of History and reality that was fulfilled later in U.S. by his Marxist professors who feed Obama’s visceral hate to U.S.
