Apple and IBM are planning on partnering on a dozen new enterprise apps this quarter, and 100 this year. The first of them, aimed at utility workers, will be announced next week.
VentureBeat has learned that the app, which the two huge corporations developed for a major U.S. utility company, was built for crew workers, like those that service electricity lines. Its designed to give those workers a wide range of data, such as maps and weather notifications.
The app is the result of the partnership between Apple and IBM, announced last summer, under which the two technology giants are teaming up on a wide range of purpose-built applications, together called MobileFirst for iOS, meant for their enterprise customers. The first set of those apps were unveiled in December, with tools for the airline, banking, insurance, telecommunications, and other industries.

What I heard last night, with the backdrop of people in Africa and “art” - a deranged child’s depiction of a pirranah, Listen up forefathers, I’m not your son Youd better [do something] Change is in the air.
THe message I got was Apple doesn’t care about this silly country, we’re taking over.
Yeah we know. We see what the Chamber of Commerce is doing.
I didn’t see any problem in the commercial (I viewed the whole thing) ... and actually thought it was a good commercial. Of course, I don’t chase after conspiracy theories either ... :-) ...
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROZhrRm88ms
I was minding my own business tethered to the ad for waiting for my show to come on.
Never knew anything about it, never read anything about it.
I heard, L\”listen up forefathers I’m not your son”
I am a literature analyst by trade. What I heard was what I heard, and it doesn’t take an expert to figure out that what apple is saying is we’re global and change is in the air.
I am also a combat veteran as was my combat wounded spouse,a s was my father. And a lot of friends.
With a sworn allegiance to the Constitution.
I take, ‘forefathers, I have no allegiance to you’ as an enormous insult.
Parse it, excuse Apple all you want.
You’re wasting your typing on me.
If you don’t see the Chamber of Commerce conspiring with the govt, both republicans and dems to bring a wave of illegals here what are you talking to me for?
Well, I didn’t come in on a thread you posted ... you came in on a thread I posted ... so I would say it appears you’re trying to change my mind ... instead of the other way around ... LOL ...
Oh ... and I wasn’t even posting about Apple commercials, but rather the IBM and Apple partnership in the Enterprise market. All the way around, it appears you’re the one attempting to change someone’s mind and getting off-topic ... :-) ...
I didn’t chase you down, you came in on this IBM/Apple Enterprise venture that I posted ... :-) ...
NOW, if I came in on a thread that you posted about that subject, then you would have something to say ... LOL ...
You are so profoundly and patriotically right.
It is an insult to anyone proud to be an American, and particularly those who have sacrificed to defend America and Americans.
As far as I’m concerned they are wasting their type, yes.
But the terrible truth is that you and I are too. They couldn’t care any less what arguments I might put forth.
And in fact they don’t care what you have sacrificed, including the blood of your family.
This is the U.S. today. Trading in God, country and family for a hand-held toy.
I say it with all my heart and soul: thank you and your family and the millions like you for the life you have offered us.
Yes, I’ve seen the ad several times. It’s a slick, well produced ad.
I generally like that style of music and I am not particularly offended by the song as it stands (I’ve heard much worse), but I think it’s entirely inappropriate to use it in an advertisement.
Do you remember the Village People’s song “In the Navy”? The Navy wanted to use that in a recruiting campaign, without realizing what the Village People were all about.
Is there anything in that song that overtly promotes homosexuality? Not really, but the connection is still there, and the Navy missed it. But you take one look at the group in their costumes, and there’s no doubt at all.
So, someone sees the iPad ad, likes the song, and finds out who did it. Then they click over to YouTube and listen to the whole thing. Then they hear the offensive parts.
If they agree, they say “Yeah, Apple’s cool and edgy for putting that song in their ad”. They don’t want to think of Apple as the capitalist entity that it really is.
It’s a subtle connection, but it’s there.
Then start your own thread on the subject ... instead of hijacking a thread about the IBM/Apple Enterprise venture ... that would be a novel approach ... wouldn’t it ... LOL ...
I don’t recall posting to you.
Don’t read my posts if they make you wet yourself.
Well, there is a POST button at the top of the page ... just for you to post such a thing.
NOW ... per this thread ... I’m all for the IBM/Apple Alliance in producing 100 apps, tied in with IBM’s databases, directed towards big corporate entities, as a way for Apple to expand its Enterprise Market!
The thread was posted about the IBM/Apple venture into the Enterprise Market, and it’s hijacking the thread no matter if you posted to yourself.
The Info Tech field has become overloaded with obscure and strange terms, acronyms and abbreviations no one can possibly keep up with. IT geeks trying to sell software throw them people and businesses in order to make themselves appear smart and knowledgeable. Frankly, I'm sick of seeing it.
Perhaps,
but
1) ipods, ipads, iphones, and I presume macbooks, run Netflix just fine. No compatibility issues, unless you are getting a poor internet/mobile data connection.
2) Probably similar.
3) Possibly
The real reason for a partnership is to pool resources and develop something that one would not do too well on its own. One example is 2006-2007, where Intel and Micron partnered up to develop the flash drives to get better flash drives that stored more data in a USB flash drive.
The only drawback of the partnership is the fact that you legally share, but I am pretty sure that both Apple and IBM have a plan so that despite what they end up sharing, they still have other markets to compete with.
If they don’t like our forefathers and don’t want to belong they can leave
No ones keeping them here
Btw capitalism makes this country great. This is corruption
The Enterprise Market is a fairly well established term, having been around for a long time and in a “business vernacular” and not a hi-tech venacular.
Merriam-Webster says of “enterprise” - a business organization.
Apple is one of the best capitalist and free enterprise SUCCESS STORIES for an American company ... FAR EXCEEDING any other American company, in U.S. history!
Whatever
Dream on.
“Listen up Forefathers
I’m Not your Son
Change is in the air”
Has no subtlety to it.
If you don’t like that people see that Apple is promoting hate America and it’s founding fathers, you don’t have to.
But they do see it.
And they see it because it’s there and it is not subtle.
If you have a problem with me posting praise and gratitude to a Freeper who has served his country and shed blood and tears in its defense, I urge you to take it up with the owner of the site.
