This is Florida, where things are normal and scumbag lawyers have been put in their place (at least on this issue;) Forcible felons (or their heirs) have no standing in Florida courts to collect damages for any injuries sustained during the commission of the forcible felony. Fall through the skylight and break your back: no claim. Threaten someone with a gun and get shot: no claim. On the other hand, FL is crowded enough as it is, so everyone else should do what they can to get similar protections enacted in their own state;)
