Who is killing the great bankers of Europe?

This is either the most interesting case of coincidental deaths or one of the most evil plots in modern history.

Western bankers are dropping dead all over the place - most of them youngish and in good health. There appear to be an unusual number of suicides and "unexplained" deaths.

Last year, 36 bankers died. There have been 3 already this year, including the latest - a Dutch financier who worked for Amro bank.

Zero Hedge blog has been following this story.

Following the deaths of 36 bankers last year, 2015 has got off to an inauspicious start with the reported suicide of Chris Van Eeghen - the 4th ABN Amro banker suicide in the last few years. As Quotenet reports, the death of Van Eghen - the head of ABN's corporate finance and capital markets -"startled" friends and colleagues as the 42-year-old "had a great reputation" at work, came from an "illustrious family," and enjoyed national fame briefly as the boyfriend of a famous actress/model.

Right now, the banksters are going out retail.

It may turn into a mass movement, however.

Could it be that these young upstarts are threatening to blow the whistle on shady business practices? The whole anti-bank movement has become a cause celebré for Millenials.

I would make these three observations:

1. These are all factual deaths. I’ve read over the entire list. Most all are the result of suicide. Several are gun-shot related (Juergen Frick for example). The Frick shooter was a nutcase funds guy from the bank who claimed he was some kind of Robin Hood and doing the community a favor (he drove away from the scene in a Smart car). The VP of the M&T bank, Tod Robert Edward, was simply drunk and died in his own one-car accident.

2. If you go back to 1929 and examine banker deaths....you’d find a fairly higher average of suicide existed for them than over the previous decade. We aren’t talking about 2nd or 3rd tier employees....we are talking about the guts of a banking organization and where blame rests when they fail or start to lose substantial profit.

3. As much as people want to say we emerged from the 2008 banking failure and are in better times, I’d counter that by looking at the interest rate (it’s as close to zero as you an get) and the fact that we’ve yet to move out of that range for six years now. It’s not a depression....but it’s some morphed version of depression where we think it’s good times and spend our money acting like it’s all normal.

Maybe Bankers should wear base jumper chutes that auto deploy, at least the ones that work in high rise offices.

There have been a few in the states here too. And a bunch of the suicides are from jumping off buildings or bridges. It does make one wonder if there is some sort of hit squad traveling the world and offing these people.

Bingo. Which makes me wonder; when another financial crisis erupts, just how will the Fed paper this new one over? Go negative on interest rates? 700+ trillion in derivatives just might be a bit of a problem to "fix".

The same people who believe these are suicides believe Harry Reid had an “accident with an exercise machine”. Thugocracy, globally. Al Capone at the wheel.

They’ve generally been higher-level and older than Millenials.

Yeah, I figure Russians, too.

Hard to imagine it doesn’t have a lot of bankers who’ve had dealings with them pretty intimidated at this point.

When the Europeans decided to confiscate the deposits of the Russians in the Cyprus collapse (because the ones they targeted where not exactly legitimate businessmen), perhaps the Russians decided to start removing European bankers to send a message.

I could imagine the drop in oil prices also putting some Russian portfolios into extreme positions.
