all good music ended in the 70s.

Rock music peaked in the 70s, but top 40 had one more good decade left in it.

When I think of the "eightiesest" 80s music, I tend to think of (in no particular order):

Not necessarily the best music of the time, or my favourite music of the time, but that which IMO best defines the radio of the decade.

You got it! You list pieces that are more typical themselves, and more typify the most-loved music. The essence, the culture, the style of the times.
