Preppers’ PING!!
Obama doesn’t want to make the U.S. a socialist workers paradise. He wants us dead. All jihadis want us dead.
BTW something to remember is that other people notice if you are NOT buying. They also notice how much you buy. So don't buy too much, that could mean that you are rich. Don't buy too little which could mean that you are hording.
Calculate how much is reasonable for your household, buy a bit under that and use coins to pay for part of it.
That signals that you don't have much and are not worth their attention. Blending in is the name of the game.
PING! post #4 this thread.
It’s often the panics that are worse than the shortages themselves.
Just look at .22LR in our country. The only reason there is still a shortage is because the demand of the panic buyers continues to exceed production.
Sounds like panic shopping in America when people rush out to buy milk and eggs and all of the bottled water based on the hysteria of a few suited weathermen.

What’s a good snow storm without the makings for French Toast?? ;-)
One good reason is barter. You happen to be there when the corn meal is available and then you trade it to someone who was there when powdered milk, sugar, cooking oil.... came in
I have clothes especially chosen/bought (baggy and wrinkled) to wear if the SHTF. Would comb my hair in an unattractive way so it would look like I didn't have shampoo and didn't comb my hair. I wouldn't be seen outside my house unless I had to go out and then I would look like an old lady who had nothing.
I have black out covers for windows so no light is seen coming from my place at night. Light and other power is from batteries, not generators, so there is no noise. Cooking is upstairs in a bedroom with door closed so odor will not carry to the outside.
See, I'm just an old lady with nothing.
Occurs to me that those here by fleeing oppressive conditions may bring their fears with them.
Seeing as ammo shortages continue, even though there’s plenty of supply and buyers have more than enough, shows mindset of fear still drives panicked stockpiling.
Hate to see that happen to food here. Fearful enough, people will hoard plentiful food even if they know it will rot.
“Just look at .22LR in our country. The only reason there is still a shortage is because the demand of the panic buyers continues to exceed production.”
I made a list of on line companies that sold CCI hollow point .22LR, and checked them every day until I found enough to buy to have an adequate supply. Most Freepers know I have a PINK Ruger 22LR. :o)
Some people have a very inflated idea of how much ammo they might need. Much to the disappointment of some I stock only a little over 2000 rounds for my battle rifle that is ten times the basic load of 210 rounds for a solider on patrol.
IMHO anyone who expended more than 10X a standard issue during a SHTF event is either crazy or has a death wish.
Great advice.
I am not quite so optimistic. I keep 1,000 rnds for each caliber. The thought is that before the 1,000 roounds are expended, who ever is using the rifle will be dead or be resupplied through battlefield pick up.
“to have an adequate supply”
See, I think that is the key here. Before the panic, what people considered an “adequate supply” was different than what it is now. Now, some people think an “adequate supply” means a “lifetime supply”, or at least that’s the way it seems to me.
There is going to be an uptick in predators. Some are going to want what you have, some are just going to want some "fun". The line that you have to walk to keep both of them away is very fine.
Black out curtains to keep any electric lights hidden is good but a small bit of candle light makes it look like someone is there and may prevent you from getting unexpected guests.
Cooking some cheap food occasionally does the same. A nice bit of cooked cabbage or even a mess of weeds makes you just like everyone else. Especially if you do it outside over a tiny fire.
Did I mention make friends of those around you? Do NOT tell them what you have but it is nice to try to get a few people who care if you are alive or not. It provides a certain amount of protection.
There, fixed.
That might work...
...but so might this.
What’s all this “Let’s Move” about?
Let’s Starve!
