Alive, yes. But just laying there. She had plenty of time to reload. And clean her gun.
She was in the attic. No spare ammo up there. Also, no cleaning kit.
Sure, your Glock will put 14 rounds into the victim. But then you will have to justify that number to a jury.
It shouldn't take that many, but I'd rather have too much ammo and not need it than need it and not have enough. There is also the scenario of multiple attackers.
"Semi autos can put a lot more lead downrange"
By "downrange" you mean about 10 feet? How long to clear a misfire or jammed cartridge?
My Glock has never had a misfire or jam. The one wheel gun I have is the only pistol I have that isn't working correctly. The last time I fired it something happened inside and I was unable to fire it again.
Sure. If it works, a semi-auto is the way to go. But in a split-second, life and death, self-defense situation, I want the reliability of a handgun.
Well, my Glock has proven to be more reliable than my wheel gun.
Sorry, bold warriors.
It happens all the time, brave, brave souls.
Men like us shoot intruders and find ourselves in jail.
It even happens in Castle states, but...
You probably don’t care.
That’s okay.
Please remember, however, that it happens all the time
and the manly things you post online
about killing intruders
about “let’s just see if they can prosecute me...”
about your inviolable home and its august master
will invariably, if God forbid you kill
some little uneducated criminal symbol of racial oppression
will be used against you in a court of law
There’s no internet in the joint, bitch
No “logging out” time when they knock
and Free Republic won’t be inside the bars to comfort you.
The truth is that killing people brings awesome legal trouble.
Oh, bold, brave warriors
Ignore the truth if you want and be another normal american turned bitch at the stroke of a gavel.
Gorgeous weapons. The purist in me eschews the “Judge...”
Still, I want...
I want...
(Right after my first titanium concealable .357, which I am still waiting to get some decent advice about. My Taurus is heavy and - I can afford something better.)
Your experience is extremely rare. Most gunsmiths will tell you that Glocks have “proclivities,” such as a tendency to fire on chambering from time to time, that make them inherently unsafe.
1. Go to a gun store.
2. Ask them if there is a hole in the floor.
3. Ask them what made it.
Bingo. GLOCK.
The vast majority of Glocks work as advertised. I am no big defender of Glocks, but they are the AK-47 of the pistol world. Are there better pistols? Without a doubt. My H&K USP Compact 40 is one of them, but it's a safe princess. But the two reasons I carry a Glock are that they are extremely dependable, and with the LE discount, I can afford to lose it to the police should I ever need to fire it in self defense.
As former LE should you ever fire in self-defense you will be regaled as a hero, will be whisked through any imaginable proceedings and will quickly be able to return to your discounts, pensions, etc. My comment was for the others; we who are dependent on and grateful for the role LE plays in our lives, we who think to defend ourselves only on those extremely rare occasions where police are not available.
You sound like a pacifist.
I am indeed an avowed pacifist and communist as you can tell by my post hiswtory and false-flag donations to FR. Really upset about how Obama gets trashed by the racist mainstream media. Came over from DU. Really interested in spreading false information about gun laws so more republicans get robbed. My plan is to convince you little POS right-wingers that shooting the venerable denizens of our inner cities, just trying to get by under the boot of capitalist imperialist oppression could lead to legal trouble so fewer venerable denizens of our inner cities, just trying to get by under the boot of capitalist imperialist oppression will get shot.
ROFLMAO!!!
You sound like a drama queen.
They used to make a Taurus Titanium 627 .357 seven shot. With a 6.5 inch ported barrel, it was just about the perfect balance of weight and controllability.
They do not make them any more.
I think it weighed, loaded, 34 ounces.
She and her daughter walked over the prone potential rapist/murderer and went downstairs. Plenty of time to grab spare ammo, clean the gun, and make breakfast.
Not that she would. All I said was that she had the time to do it.
"It shouldn't take that many"
I see. You know that a violent encounter will require more than 5 rounds ... but less than 14.
"My Glock has never had a misfire or jam."
Fine. Then sell me yours. I've read plenty of stories where other Glocks have misfired, stovepiped, failed to feed, and accidentally discharged.
I also carry spare magazines. A couple of 13 rounders and I have 40 rounds total.
For self-defense, I prefer a revolver.
Because then you're 8 pounds away from an "accidental" discharge.
Rule 3: Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target.
Nothing against revolvers, BTW. I like revolvers ... the Ruger SP101 is a nice concealment piece, though somewhat lively with full power .357 Mag loads.
I believe the trigger pull on the S&W 642 is around 12 pounds.
"Rule 3: Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target."
I agree with the Rule. The problem is, two-year-olds keep forgetting it:
"HAYDEN, Idaho A mom shopping at a Walmart store died Tuesday after her 2-year-old toddler, who was left in a shopping cart, reached into her purse and accidentally discharged her handgun, authorities said."
( 9mm Smith & Wesson M&P Shield semi-automatic handgun. 6.5 pound trigger pull)
There was a whole lot more going wrong in that Walmart incident than just a two year old getting her hands on a pistol. I think you know that.
A few thoughts ...
No mechanical device is indestructible, fool proof, or failure proof.
Self-loading pistols and revolvers have different failure modes. Neither is perfect. I like both, can shoot both well.
Some people have or develop a strong preference for a particular type of handgun. That’s OK. OTOH trying to paint all automatics as constantly jamming negligent discharges waiting to happen, or to paint all revolvers as worthless relics of the 19th Century, is stupid.

ignore #77.
You can get a smith to disconnect that safety.
