The left wing media once again defiles itself with the phony Scalise story

lib media bias

The charge that Steve Scalise (R-LA) spoke at a David Duke organization was something of a surprise. He just doesn't seen like them kind of guy who would do such a thing.

It turns out that he didn't.

His office issued a statement:

“One of the many groups that I spoke to regarding this critical legislation was a group whose views I wholeheartedly condemn,” he said.

“It was a mistake I regret, and I emphatically oppose the divisive racial and religious views groups like these hold.”

Fellow Congressman Cedric Richmond(D-LA), who is black, issued his own statement:

"I don't think Steve Scalise has a racist bone in his body," Richmond, who is African American, told the paper. "Steve and I have worked on issues that benefit poor people, black people, white people, Jewish people. I know his character."

He added: "I am not going to let them use Steve as a scapegoat to score political points when I know him and know his family," Richmond said.

But what I found curious was that Scalise could not remember speaking for the group. He could either have been lying or maybe he really didn't remember. Lying is not characteristic for Scalise. Duke didn't really remember either. Finally, the truth emerges. Scalise did not speak to EURO:

Kenny Knight, the former campaign manager for onetime Ku Klux Klan leader David Duke, said in an interview that he invited Scalise to speak to the civic group in the same hotel room used by Duke’s European-American Unity and Rights Organization, but that it took place hours before the start of the white nationalists’ meeting. Knight said he secured the hotel facilities for Duke’s group, then invited the civic association, which he says he led, to meet about a string of neighborhood break-ins and other local issues while enjoying some of the coffee and cookies set out for Duke’s group.

“I basically gave him a town-hall meeting to address constituents about legislation he was working on,” said Knight, 65. “There were also other people who spoke before the civic association that day. One was from the Red Cross who talked about CPR. Another was Steve Scalise and there was a member of the local sheriff’s department on instituting a crime watch group in our neighborhood. Steve and those folks spoke before the conference of EURO. It was not a EURO-sponsored event. I sponsored the event as president of the local civic association.”

Knight explained the Internet post of an apparent EURO attendee about Scalise’s speech as “crossover in the hospitality room.”

“Some of the EURO members who came from out of town came to the hospitality room and sat in the audience,” Knight said. “Maybe a handful of the 25 people or so in the room were from EURO. The rest were all people from the neighborhood.”

Even the folks at Slate agree:

Knight said on Tuesday that it’s “totally incorrect” to say Scalise spoke at that convention.

“He spoke early in the day to a contingent of people, prior to the conference kicking off,” Knight said. “He was not there as a guest speaker at the conference.”

According to Knight, he and Scalise were neighbors in 2002, living in the Old Jefferson neighborhood outside New Orleans. They were friendly and lived within a few blocks of each other. Knight recalls that Scalise would beep the horn and wave at him if he drove by in his car.

“Now and then I’d see him at a Republican function, we’d say hello, but we never exchanged any philosophy ideas,” Knight said.

Scalise did not speak for EURO:

The news media is the main threat to our freedom and to our economy

The media are all liberals/socialists/democrats. they are not reporters : that's just a front for them to spread their religion of socialism to fundamentally transform America and the world into a socialist hell hole “from each to his ability to each to his need”. the media are hell bent on this ,every democrat is . In this socialist utopia you have no rights to own property to own your own life as what you “need” is decided by a government bureaucrat not by you. This is what every democrat wants .

The corrupt Praetorian newsmedia has probably sunk as low as possible, but it continues to wallow in the filth of absolute bottom.

The news media lied.

Most of the news outlets reported this fake Scalise story as if were true.

Defiled themselves??
How, exactly?

They are slapping high-fives at each other over this.

It does not matter what the TRUTH is, only that a pro-Democrat NARRATIVE has been established.

“The news media is the main threat to our freedom and economy”

That is the absolute truth!

The politicians with that bent wouldn’t have a prayer without them.

Like Scalise or hate him, it is WRONG to paint someone as a racist who is not. There is a theme being pushed by the left that all Republican’s are racist. It is very important that they not get by with this. Someone needs to dig out the story behind the story — like who is behind this and why did they wait until now to spread it around.

The fact is Scalise has been a stooge and hatchet man for Bonehead.

That in itself is enough to remove him, white supremist or not.

Agreed. They are not funny; they are not cute. The bias is destroying the country.

So, the organizer of the Duke event was also head of civic association which he had meet at the same place on the same day. He invites "clean" people to speak to the civic group, and he invites KKK-type people to the 2nd event later in the day. There is some crossover of people.

EURO attendee about Scalise’s speech as “crossover in the hospitality room.” “Some of the EURO members who came from out of town came to the hospitality room and sat in the audience

This is how a person would plan plausible deniability.

Idiocy.
Scalise has a Heritage Action score of 75.
For comparison McCarthy scores 40.
The average Republican House member scores 61.

The news media makes good money from Democrat redistributon programs.
5 to 10 per cent of all government subsidized consumer spending (welfare) goes to product advertising costs.

They’re salesmen collecting commissions.

Scalise purged the GOP Study. That is a fact.

He whipped votes on the Cromibus bill you like so much.

That is a fact, as well.

Guilt by association does NOT make a good argument in any case. It works, however, with fools. The media depends on fools. Fools are their bread and butter.

Oh please cite something on that purge claim LOL!

Yeah, he whips the votes, for good or ill. I expect his rating will come down 10 points this year too.
But all you GOPe types hate having him in the Leadership.

The supposed “crime” of speaking once with a white supremacist group in attendance in the audience does turn me off but misses as a scandal. This is particularly the case since no harm was done to the political career of a man who sat in the congregation of the church of Jeremiah Wright for 20 years and whose most trusted advisor on race relations is Al Sharpton.

In absolute desperation, the left is frantically scraping for anything to stop the ideological flow which has been tipping from democrat to either libertarian or conservative.

Their current strategy includes trying to recreate the sixties, which means they will try to link racist groups with the conservative movement.

Funny—racist groups are historically leftist.

The charge of racism was on Page One, above the fold, in 72 point headline bold type.

The retraction is on page 17, in 8 point type, on the lower leftmost column.

It was ever thus.
